Here are a few comparison shots from the rooms I’m currently working on.
One interesting note: The texture used for the some of the notes is actually a “Public Notice” for an influenza epidemic. You can see the original image they created the texture from here.
Also, included a shot of the revised carpet from early on in the game (Lukas found the original carpet design. :)). (Please note: We will not generally take requests to view specific objects or textures. :))
Enjoy!

Oh, nice touch of translating the english notice to spanish.
Also, the difference between the texture quality on this area is.. screaming! The original looks worse than n64 textures!
Congratulations for your hard work on this.
I can’t donate to you at the moment.. but I sure will do as soon as I have a lil break from my bills ^^
They didn’t actually translate the note. It’s completely new content, says something about Lord Saddler.
Actually it’s not new content. When you pick up the note, you get to read it. The text on the note is the Spanish version of that text, taken straight from the game (you just have to set the language indicator to Spanish in the game properties in Steam).
Sorry for nitpicking, but the new “public notice” is missing the black line under the title and above the text. :^)
Haha yes, that is nitpicking. π Thanks, Lukas!
Zero, I didn’t meant a “literal translation” of english to spanish.
What I meant is.. the original texture is written in english while they’re on a spanish village.
Rewriting the note using a spanish text is a nice little touch π
This work, this detail! Amazing how you’ve been able to find so many original sources!
Are there going to be many originals in the “Island” section though, since that one is mostly enviromental textures?
Thank you! I expect that the section of the game with the most “originals” will be the Castle, followed by the village, followed by the Island.
daum! I didn’t noticed they were military rations on those shelves (and oficial spanair armed forces rations). super awesome job guys, i don’t know if that door is the original bot it look legit as fuck xD also show us the first cave, i’m dying to know how it ended up looking like π
Haha thanks! The “door” is actually the side of the cabinet where Ashley hides during the attack on the cabin. It’s not the original texture, but rather a recreation of the original.
Sorry, can’t take any more specific requests to view different sections — takes time away from making forward progress. :-/
hahah don’t worry, we understand xD

Did you see the link? Did you see the link?
I smiled when I saw the tombstone of Sarah Ann Elizabeth. π Nice find!
I’m thinking the other grave must be on the site.
PS. I’m assuming you’ll add that line on the document. π
I’ve looked, but haven’t found any. If you find any and they are high resolution photos, feel free to share. π Re: the line, perhaps if time allows. π
You guys love me… right?

The other ones should all be somewhere in here:

Very cool that you found that one – thanks for sharing! π
I’ve mailed the guy and asked for a higher resolution version of the “Sarah Ann Elizabeth” one.

What? This ornament design is the same as in the game, except the hand has been changed a little. It’s much closer than the one you used. :^)
Hi again! My mistake – you’re right. Everything other than the hand is from that actual tombstone. Thanks!
By the way, what’s your username on Neogaf? π (I love that forum.)
Thanks – i’ll wait and see if I get a higher res version from the guy I mailed. :^)
I don’t have Neogaf. π Mainly because my E-mail address is free.
So I mailed the guy, asking him if he had the same picture in higher res. His response was:
“Sorry, I don’t. As far as the same relief goes, you are welcome to look through my Funerary Symbols pages: https://www.flickr.com/photos/norfolkodyssey/sets/72157628759778647/
it might also be worth looking through my Remember the Dead pages: https://www.flickr.com/photos/norfolkodyssey/sets/72157625115961174/
Simon”
I’ve been helping way too much with this, so i’ll let you guys browse these flickr sets π
Btw, the way I found the “Sarah Ann Elizabeth” grave, was by using Google image search, they have a feature where you can upload a picture and search for similar pictures.
Thank you again Lukas. Yes, We are aware of that reverse image search. It’s really useful!
It looks like you love all this tombstones stuff isn’t it?? π
Yeah, I think it’s because I was irritated by how different the tombstones looked in the comparisions, the same with the carpet. If there are any designs that you can’t find the original assets for and consider replacing with something different, mail me them and i’ll see what I can do. I think I can be of great help when it comes to that.
You find interesting things just by googling “Spain texture”
http://depositphotos.com/5559934/stock-photo-castle-masonry-wall-carved-stone-rows-pattern-texture.html
Is this in the game? I THINK I recognize it.
How are you recreating the guns in the game? By just trying to redraw the original textures or by using the original real-life guns that the textures were based on. I think they for example removed the “Remington 870″writing from the R870 (the first shotgun in the game), for copyright reasons. So with this pack, it should be restored imo. The real gun na,es can be found on the RE wiki.
I recommend using the Counter Strike gun mods that usually are perfect replicas of the actual guns, textured with real photos of the guns. Like this: http://css.gamebanana.com/skins/117311
Thanks for the question! We haven’t started working on the weapons at this point, but we’ll keep your feedback in mind once we get there. Thanks also for sharing the link!
I love how you used actual Spanish Army rations as a texture! RaciΓ³n Individual de Combate. LOL
You know, as for translating the original English text to Spanish, I’m not sure about that. I mean, in a notice for the villagers, it kinda makes sense (even though Leon probably wouldn’t be able to read that), but what really bothers me is when you translate English text to Spanish on machinery and such. I mean, it’s really visible on the Island. I always assumed that if any equipment had English text on it, then it was most likely imported from an English speaking country. It would make sense that a military base would purchase equipment made in USA, for example. Saddler mentioned that keeping Los Illuminados up and running costs quite a bit of money. So I’d assume they buy more than just pitchforks and scythes ^^ I’m saying cause it’s really something that bothers me incredibly, even though it’s a tiny detail. Still, I hope you guys will take a look at what I’ve said. Also, my name is purely coincidental.
Haha I assumed it was coincidental. π I keep forgetting to add some commentary to the FAQ re: the Spanish text! And thanks for sharing the reasoning for your preference. I do agree it’s plausible that they purchased the equipment from English-speaking countries. At the same time, I also think it’s plausible that it was either manufactured in Spain or customized for export to Spain. Beyond that, many times when English text appears in the game, it doesn’t match the device or machinery and it’s simply there because it was on the source photo they used for the texture. This is especially true for computer panels or machinery with lots of dials – it’s rather ambiguous. And so our principle for navigating this ambiguity is to be true and consistent to the game world. For us, this means being straightforward and consistent by having the text appear in Spanish since the game is set in Spain. I hope this at least explains our thought process, even if it doesn’t necessarily persuade you to agree. π Thanks again for taking the time to share!
I just realised something. Signs like “Operating Room” on the island. I think they might’ve been English because Saddler could’ve hired English speaking staff and researches. As seen with Krauser, he can deal with Americans, even if he despises them. Also, since most members of Los Illuminados speaks English, perhpas they were dealing with British/American people for quite some time? I mean, I doubt the village ganados would do much as researchers ^^’ But then again, maybe it’s just my inner need for faithful recreating creating nonsense theories.
