I haven’t downloaded this yet due to my review of slow download speeds — but that’s perfectly fine. I’m actually only going to be downloading it so it won’t be as large of a file when the other parts are released. I currently have no wired 360 controller to play it with, unfortunately.

But I’ve been following this endeavor since the very first post you made, and I’ve been excitedly showing the progress to my friends (which are all in awe at the fact albert manages to hunt down the original textures). It looks amazing, guys. To think that just two could breathe so much new life into such a cherished old-time favorite of mine, and a whole design team at CAPCOM couldn’t even though they basically re-release it annually. I hope between all of the work you guys realize how incredible this really is, and how much all the fans will enjoy the fruits of your labors.

Have a Merry Christmas, both of you, and to anyone else that happens to see this! 🙂 I look forward to the upcoming progress!!

Just donated woo! So happy to be part of this. This is a truly epic amateur project. You have are above most modders. I guess most have ambitious goals but usually 70% give up or split up. You guys are amazing to pull this off!

So I just found about about the updated download link and now I was finally able to download the file at 2.5 Mb/s, which is what it should be. Installed it and my, does this game start to look like a 2010 game! Game still runs smoothly at 60 fps maxed with those new textures rendered at an emulated 3840×2160 resolution! So it looks like I was able to get this as a Christmas gift after all. Better late than never. Thank you so much for fixing the download problem! As I mentioned earlier, I will throw in a contribution later. Merry Christmas! 😀

    Hi,
Thanks for your hard work, it’s truly amazing to relive the RE4 experience with this incredible set of HD textures. I just want to let you know that unfortunately the game crashes often (I’d say 70% of the time) when entering the lake area (of course I never had this problem before the new textures and I hope it’s not something difficult to fix).
Here are my laptop specs :
    I7-4800MQ
GTX 880M 8GB GDDR5 (unless I’m mistaken this is more than enough VRAM for the updated textures?)
    8GB DDR3
Thanks again and contact me if you need further details. Happy holidays.

      Thank you Tristan!
People who is having crash issues, please could you try using this tool? :
      http://www.ntcore.com/4gb_patch.php
And the file you need to patch is:
      C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Resident Evil 4\Bin32\bio4.exe
It will create automatically a backup file, so original bio4.exe won’t be lost.
If it’s a good solution we’ll create a post announcing this tool solves the crashes issue 😉 We are testing it and a few people experienced no crashes after patching bio4.exe with this tool.

«This very little tool patches x86 executables in order to let them have 4GB (instead of only 2) of virtual memory on x64 platforms. This tool comes very handy for applications which need a great amount of virtual memory like games, 3D renderization, multimedia etc.»

I used cffexplorer to accomplish the same thing and I’m happy to say that I just played all the way up to the part where you get Ashley out of the church and haven’t had a single crash. Before, I was randomly crashing at map transitions. Though until I saw Tristan’s comment I thought it was because the game was balking at the res I was running it at (3840×2400).

  5. Iazu says:

Guys, this looks awesome! Thanks for releasing this today, been snapping screenshots like a wildman 🙂

Now if only the guy that does FlawlessWidescreen would fix his FOV hack, lol.

  6. Handerson says:

Thank you for uploading it on mega, cris

  7. Luke Johnson says:

Wow! I just played through a few minutes. It’s hard to find the words. I am so thankful that you were able to make and release this.

  8. Mohsen says:

    Hi.
I have a problem with the download.
Every time the download reach 51% (~2GB), I get “temporary error” from Mega!
I have tried with different web-browsers and different proxy servers! Still not working…
Can you split the compressed file in two parts of 2Gigs and upload them again please?

  9. hamada says:

Please, Resident Evil 4hd on the ps vita device that more than 3,000 people asked only in the UAE and there in Iraq and Saudi Arabia please, thank you

  10. anhedonia says:

I’ve seen the comparison video and wow! Absolutely amazing work!
But I’m astonished though… the “original” HD texture were that shitty? How can it be? I remember before the Ultimate HD version came out, Capcom was releasing their own comparison videos with the original PC version, and you could clearly see that the Ultimate HD texture were indeed HD (or at least they looked like it, next to the original ones). But in the video Ultimate HD textures vs HD Project texture, the Ultimate HD textures seem so shitty, it looks like they are the original ones from 2007 instead. Is that the case?
If not, I’d love to see a triple comparison video: original vs Ultimate HD vs HD Project.
    Either way, great job guys!

    • albert says:

      Thank you anhedonia!
As you may know, Resident Evil 4 UHD has 2 texture options: Original textures and HD textures. The original textures are those from Gamecube/Wii versions (Not PS2/old PC versions which were even worse)
We are always using the original textures as reference point and here you can read the reasons and a few examples:

Awesome work, guys! I think, you should use 7zip instead of winrar. I repacked your archive to 7z and…
    re4-hd-demo-auto-install.rar – 4.1 GB
    re4-hd-demo-auto-install.7z – 2.2 GB

    • Cris says:

Thanks for taking the time to test this. Actually the reason is because I did not apply any compression when archiving the files this time. This will be addressed in any future releases. Thanks again!

  13. Ish says:

I installed the textures manually and they look fantastic.

Just one question. In the download files there are 2 files called RevisedModelPacks 1 and 2…What are these for?

I only copied over the hdtexturepacks file…

    Regards,

    Ish

    • albert says:

Hello Ish! Thanks! and that’s a good question 😛

They are corrected 3D models for a few things and they must be placed inside folders St1 (r1xx.udas) and St2 (r2xx.udas) but you must remove the same files with same filename but lfs extension.

For example, r105.udas must replace r105.udas.lfs. The game will load all lfs files when both are inside the folder, that’s why you must remove the original lfs files.

      • Ish says:

Hi. It would be really helpful if you guys could do a video tutorial and put in on youtube as i seem to be confused on how to do this.

        Regards,

        Ish

        • Cris says:

Hi Ish. Thanks for downloading the release and for the suggestion. I’m curious – did you notice the Installation Instructions link mentioned on the download page? If you follow the instructions it should take care of placing the files where they belong for you and automatically creating backups of the original files. Here’s the link: https://www.re4hd.com/?page_id=474 Please let me know if this helps for now!

  14. CHRIS says:

    WHY DO THAT ?
there’s resident evil 4 HD created by capcom ?
what you thing your work can gave players ?
what the difference between capcom HD and your work ?

    • Cris says:

Hi Chris — Thanks for commenting. Yes, Resident Evil 4 Ultimate HD edition exists (created by Capcom). If you have played that version, I’m sure you noticed that the large majority of textures were not enhanced from the original. And when textures *were* enhanced, they often do not match the original textures. This post explains in more detail, if you’re interested: https://www.re4hd.com/?p=1261

  15. Biaru says:

In Lake Location, before battle with Del Lago, game uses old textures. After battle, when the rain goes, use your.
Thank you for the excellent textures.

    • albert says:

      Hello Biaru!
Please, could you post a screenshot showing the exact low resolution textures?
And… could you check what’s inside ImagePackHD folder?
Is file 4400010b.pack there? Is file 4400010b.pack.lfs there too?
      Thanks!

      • Biaru says:

        Ow…you fast.
Indeed, my 4400010b.pack file does not match with file from your archive. (File 4400010b.pack.lfs don’t exist)
Apparently this is my unofficial localization affects texture. After using your .bat file problem is gone.
        So, excuse me.

This mod is just perfect! Capcom should have done something like that instead of a lazy flitering.
Can’t wait to see the end of it.
