The King’s Chalice and the Novistador Nest (r216-213)

Hello! I’m bringing you a new 2-room update (216 and 213). In fact, I’ve been working on 6 rooms at the same time but I split the update into 3 parts because it was too much for one post ;P

This time Leon recovers the King’s Chalice and he reaches the gigantic Novistador nest. All of these rooms took lots of hours of work but the results are pretty impressive. I recently found in my city some of the textures you’ll see in the comparison shots. I think Barcelona is the city where Capcom took the higher % of pictures… Lucky us!

Keep in mind it’s still work in progress! 😉

Man you guys are doing some truly amazing work here!

I would feel ashamed of myself if I was in charge of textures on this game and I worked for capcom, specially after they’ve released the game so many times, even a “HD” release.

You guys are doing pretty professional work, it’s great, I hope you guys use this project as something on your resume and find some really great game studios to work for.

LOL basically the same here in Mexico.
Anyway, your work on this game is really awesome, I’m holding buying it until the patch is done, and as soon as I get some extra money (since I have a lot of debts at the moment) I’ll donate to this project. Thank you for putting so much effort into this.

Wow, you’ve done a lot! It looks amazing. It’s great to see this game is still getting some love, it’s pretty old now. Can’t wait to see new updates, the castle is looking gorgeous! It’s always been my favourite part of the game 🙂

This is getting more and more impressive.
    2 small questions:

    1. is it possible to put the higher poly 3D-models from the cutscenes into the gameplay? Wouldn’t it be worth trying? It could make a huge difference.

    2. the image/stock sites where vou’ve been able to find some original textures, would you consider putting up links for those so we fans can browse them and hunt for any textures you might have missed? 🙂

      Hello Lukas!
      1. As far as I know, only the faces are higher poly count than the gameplay models, the rest of the body in the cutscenes (even the hair) is loaded from the ingame models.
For now, I don’t know how to implement those faces because they have animation. Maybe in the future we’ll try to find out a way of doing it properly 😉

      2. Wow… it’s not just a site, they are scattered all over the internet.
There’s 2 or 3 sites which contained lots of Capcom’s RE textures. Unfortunately most of them are not really HD. Even if they are the original textures they are dated from 1995-2002 and the resolution of those images was not that great. So we are re-creating most them… Anyway, they are generic textures (wooden metal brick stone textures….) The most peculiar textures are all taken from real-life pictures Capcom took by themselves.
And there are a few more textures Capcom took from random Internet sites (personal blogs, antique furniture stores and all kind of weird sites…)
I would need a complete day to compile the whole list of sites…
I downloaded the pictures years ago so it’s probably some of the sites are down now (or not…)

        They’re often different.
Look at this Luis cutscene at 6:10

If you look at the door in the background, you’ll se it has 3D handles, while the handles are just flat textures in the gameplay. 😛

I actually meant those “main” sites where you’ve found lots of textures, if you could just link those few sites. Like stock image sites or something.

        • albert says:

Ahh you mean the stage models. Only the dynamic models (doors, for example) are sometimes better. I’m aware of that and you’ll have a little surprise in the next week’s update 😛

The only site I remember right now is tplm123.com
