Back to the Village for Some Fresh Air (Part I)

These last weeks / months I’ve been alternating between re-texturing the Island and 3D modeling / UV mapping edits for the Village.

As some of you may know, we started making 3D modeling corrections and enhancements while working on the Castle section of the game. Before that, we had neither the tools (courtesy of Son of Persia – a Resident Evil Modding forums member) nor the skills needed to achieve that level of quality.

And so here I’m showing you some of the unreleased 3D edits not present in the “Village Pack” download šŸ™‚ . This is a small selection among the hundreds and hundreds of small little issues these areas suffered from.

Awesome, I can’t believe how much work you keep puting into this, thank you very much, can’t wait (but I happily will hehe) for the full release.

Your updates are always fun and educational to look at.

I’ll repeat what I said the other day on your “By the numbers” page.

    Maybe start a Patreon page.

Plenty of people have made useless ones already (and they make thousands of dollars a month). Iā€™m pretty sure people would be willing to donate to your cause, your work is pretty good and you have plenty of evidence to support that this project is not a scam. I have a good feeling about it.

    • DarkSamus says:

      Not going to happen mate

      • Steven says:

        Explain m8.

        • Kaludio says:

copy right laws are fucked up and will find a way to ruin good will in the name of corporations. However i do share your concern, the donations haven’t been mentioned enough, they need more effective way to promote them.

actually i find it funny that a couple week ago they reviled the hd remastering of the legen of zelda twilight princess. It appears to now run 60 fps 1080p, and also have all the textures in HD as well, however some of them don’t look as polished or of the same quality as the ones on this project. Besides that the game didn’t appear to have any 3d/mapping edits. Overall it left me wishing that they had people as passionate and talented as Chris and Albert on the project development xD. It goes to show that not even nintendo who are known for their polished and high quality products can match the level of accuracy this project has. I hope you guys get at least the recognition you deserve if not monetary compensation from the game industry

Now that’s just beyond words. Great job, Albert.

  5. Boris says:

This kind of perfectionism does the game and it’s fantastic art direction justice. The wait for everything to be finished will certainly be worth it.

    Hello Albert and Cris,
That’s an awesome job you done here, keep up the good work, I really want to help, and i will by donation next month. Can’t wait to see the final result. Anyway DON’T GIVE UP, I love you guys! Bringing back to life my favourite game.
    Thank you!

  7. TheMarkusBoy says:

    Very nice!
Since you are editing and adding 3D models, have you thought about adding the Ganado’s corpse in the initial room of 1-2?

  8. Wyrtt says:

wow, Almost 2/3 of work done. Just in 1 year you moved from yet another big project that will take 10 years and will be abandoned after few months to real deal.
So much work was done. I feel that a lot of aaa and most of indie devs should be ashamed. Working with such limited tools and fawed engine and turning old game into sweeet candywith such speed is incredible.
While others barely capable of using unity stock assets.

man i cant wait for the second part… this updates are just to good, i didn’t even noticed the window was missing or the glass texture missing form the inside on ll my playthrus hahahaha xD. Although one thing is missing is the purple water boilers on the village section. Do those get a enhancement/revision? I remember that they looked kind of cartoony on the on the download village demo. Anyways the 3d edits are killing it, 11/10.

    • albert says:

      Haha thank you!
I didn’t notice that boiler looked that bad. Anyway, I’m sure we’ll make one last general revision, and we’ll take that into consideration! šŸ˜‰

  10. Dave G says:

Amazing work, really going the extra mile. This is pretty much the gold-standard of texture packs, hell as good as the retextures are it almost does it a disservice to refer to it as a “texture” pack with all the remodelling you’re doing.

So is the plan to release the re-done Village with the Castle release, or before/after?

    • Cris says:

Thanks for the compliments! We haven’t made any decisions at this point regarding another release, sorry. šŸ™ We’re simply focused on making forward progress at this point (there’s still a certain amount of work left to do on the castle). Check out the Progress page for more info!

    This is NUTS. O.O

  12. Jodeth says:

I noticed that window missing before (building with the typewriter). Glad you found it. lol

  13. DarkSamus says:

Is there going to be a part 2 of this?

    • albert says:

Yes šŸ™‚ I’m alternating some Village 3D edits with the regular Island rooms progress. I’ll post part 2 when I reach the church more or less (rooms 104-107-105-102-108)
