Amazing you found this door xD keep up the good work!
I can’t see the slideshow here. Is it glitched?
Yes, it seems something is wrong, but I don’t know what happened :/ that’s why I post that HD image link aswell
Ah, don’t worry, mate.
On a side note, environment is incredibly important, but I’m super excited for characters/enemies textures. I do think it will be a challenge, due to RE4’s specific style.
I agree! I think the real challenge will come with the organic and bloody flesh textures
Ah, yes. Unless you’d be willing to watch snuff movies, which I doubt, finding actually flesh and blood sources will be difficult. I assume looking at anatomical pictures will have to do.
I’ve corrected the slideshow glitch (not sure what the issue was – I simply re-uploaded the image for the slideshow).
Now that I can take a closer look at it… actually, what was remastered? I mean, I assumed it to be the door, but it still looks kinda low res.
These “Look familiar” posts are not progress updates. They are comparisons between original textures and their real-life counterpart.
They are something like… “hey-I-found-the-original-thing-in-real-life” updates 😛
Here’s a real comparison of the door frame:

Oh, I see ^^’
Although, I must say, I think the model on that one shouldn’t be changed. It sorta goes away from the in-game design.
Well… I don’t know what to say. I just edit the model in order to fix those modeling/mapping isues you can see in the original. No other design edits were applied. To my eyes, the original looked distorted and poorly mapped
It looks ordinary to me. I dunno, it just doesn’t seem like something that denies physics or logic.
I couldn’t disagree more with you Cris Wihout H.. kinda disappointed in you now. 😛
yep, i’m with Alvare, the new frame looks much better. The original model was probably left in that state cuz capcom development team said “fuck it, close enough” xD
D: Senpai is disappointed in me!
Seriously though, wasn’t the previous doorframe looking the way Capcom wanted? I know it looks different in real life, but… so what? I mean, it didn’t look like a glitch in the game, so shouldn’t it stay?
D’: haha. Had to check urban dictionary for that one.
But seriously tho, you know about UV mapping, right? To check if a texture’s distorted or not is easily done by putting a checker pattern on it, you’ll notice the square’s are twisted and turned. Which basically means that the actual texture will be that distorted too. In that case, the geometry will NEVER, look plausible. Especially not up close or when viewed from certain angles. If you’re not persuaded by the screenshot I suggest you check out that area and see for yourself how ugly it is. 😛
Actually, I have no idea about all this technical terms o:
