More Novistadors??

Hi everyone! After a really busy work week I’m happy to share progress from the Novistador nest right next to the 2 El Gigantes. In general the Novistadors make me uneasy, and so I get anxious about this room each time I play through the game. It’s not particularly difficult, but swarms of gigantic bugs are pretty much my worst nightmare. 🙂

As always, your feedback is welcome, and if you have any questions just let us know

Nice work. Was hoping for a video tho

Thank you! Typically Albert is the one who posts videos of each section, sorry. It takes time to record, render, and upload, and I’ve been trying to maximize the amount of my time spent on textures / modelings.

Another awesome update. Just what i wanted for my birthday 😀 Thanks

Good work. I’ll admit, swarms of giant bugs would freak me out as well. It’s always nice to see the castle getting slowly completed, since it’s my favorite part of the game.

The melted glass lacks transparency and the mirror kinda lacks reflectiveness. Other than that, great work as usual.

    This is genius!

What is the meaning of the writings in the first photo?

Must be tricky to improve really dark areas of the game like this, these details are great. Will you guys be making light adjustments to this game? Like the sewer area where you 1st meet the novistidors? Its so bright around there when it should be hard to see due to darkness underground.

    • Cris says:

Hello! Our hope is to match the original as much as possible, so darkening areas in a way that differs notably from the original would not be in scope. Thank you!

Sticks and stones my break my bones but 3D chains excite me xD

Looking really great, keep up the good work guys! Can’t wait for the castle area to be completed. 🙂

Hey Cris, phenomenal as always. The first picture is really, really, amazingly better than the original.
With regard to the second to last picture, the top of the lever, is that the original restoration, or did you just design that yourself? I ask because it looks so different than the original.

    • Cris says:

Thank you!! Re: the lever, that was a re-creation not a restoration. The restored part is the brown decorative panel that the lever is connected to. Thanks again!

Here is a small critique (because you and albert say you welcome critiques! lol): Please in the future, make those knobs look more like the original. The original has a shiny roundish end, and with your re-creation it has a flat end with a fancy design on it. Your job is already hard enough, you don’t have to go out of your way to add extra designs on things that are simple. I’m not just talking about this knob, I’m talking about with anything.

Obviously, all your work is phenomenal, and superior than the original in every single way possible, with that said, since you guys are taking so much time putting your heart and soul into the project, and trying to remain faithful to the original, you might want to consider not adding any new designs, unless absolutely necessary.

I’m just throwing that out there.

My complaint isn’t really with the knob, I’m just reminding you that you don’t have to add anything extra, ever, because the simple stuff still looks HD and good.

        • Cris says:

I appreciate the feedback and the encouragement! The change to the end of the knob wasn’t totally intentional, but your point re: remaining true to the original is valid and is a central part of our guiding principles for the project. Thanks again!

Maybe i’m wrong but in the first picture it looks like the plaque says something else. In english

    • Cris says:

You’re right – the original texture used a heavily blurred version of a plaque re: the work of Victor Barclay. Our revision now matches what the game says that the plaque says when you examine it. Thank you!

  12. Steven says:

Looking wonderful as usual. Keep it up Albert and Cris!

  13. Alpha_94 says:

Excellent job as always 🙂 Cris and Albert you are both true professionals, every single detail has been remastered. I hope you are going to release this amazing mod in next year, this would be awesome.
