Beware the truck!

Hi! Just a quick update today. The infamous missing flare lens effect is back after a looong vacations:

I’m working hard to make the castle rooms as final as possible (touching up lighting and effects here and there) before the release date arrives πŸ˜‰

    Not so much enhancements on the model/textures this time, but the lights are awesome! Makes a lot of difference.

    So the release date isnt too far away now!?! Will that include everything you’ve changed in the village too? 3D models are not in the current release and Im worried my FPS will take a drop, I was surprised the current village ran fine on my laptop. To be honest though, I really want to see what you guys can do with mercs and separate ways, those need some serious improvements!

      Hi Sean,
      We haven’t finished the 3D edits for all Village rooms yet so we probably won’t include them in the next release.

        I feel it would be worth waiting a little longer for the Village and Castle to be completed with every fix you guys can possibly do.

          Yeah me too. We should do a poll. Most votes will decide whether you guys should do a release or not.

            The “problem” is Cris can’t revise right now all 3D edits I’m doing for the Village rooms. So, the result would be even another unfinished Village pack. That’s why we rather to focus on just Castle rooms for this release.
            It’s been a long time since our last pack. We thought it’s about time to another release πŸ™‚

            Let me explain: When we started that table we only were taking care of textures. We learned how to edit the 3D models when we reached the castle section of the game.

            The “complete” tag in Village areas means “texture work complete”.
            The Village 3D edits are at 50% but don’t worry. the 3D edits are much faster than any texture work. We’ll take care of the remaining 3D edits when the Island section is finished
            On the other hand, the “complete” tag in Castle areas really means “texture and 3D work complete”.

            We just didn’t want to complicate everything and we simply kept the “complete” tag for all Village rooms.

    Hello guys! Your work is amazing, Ive been watching this project over a year or two now and the progress is really awesome, you guys are making my dream come true! Cant wait to play the full release. I just wanted to ask if the second Demo (Castle) will also contain the Village section. The first Demo featuring remastered Village feels quite incomplete and undone, and also different from the pictures on the site, so I wanted to ask if this new download will be the newer Village+Castle in one package πŸ™‚ Thanks for answer in advance and keep up the good work!

      Hi! Thank you for your words… and patience!
      The Village 3D edits are not finished yet, so we probably won’t include them in the Castle release. It would be somewhat confusing to spread even another unfinished –but upgraded– version of the Village.
      I hope you understand!

        How much more are you working on the village? If you release the castle section in a few months, does that mean the castle is finished or you will still work on it? Based on your current timeline, you will probably still be working on finishing up the island sections in at least another year or two, and thats probably not including ada or mercs. Why hold off on the village, wouldnt it be better to finish the village and castle to get them out there? Its such a long project!

          The castle will be finished when we release it (only the last 7 rooms will need Cris’ texture/3D model revision)
          Some Village rooms didn’t receive 3D edits yet (We figured out how to edit the 3D models when we already were working with the castle rooms) That’s why we won’t include it in the castle release
          Island should be much faster πŸ˜‰
          Hehe yes! It is. And we didn’t know it would reach this level of perfectionism. It started as a “simple” texture project and look at it now XD

    Was this missing and you added it, or was it a bug and you fixed it by a workaround? Is this effect missing in other rooms as well?

      The effect was there in all the game versions. Correct me if I’m wrong: If I recall correctly, it was there in this UHD port when it was released but the developers broke this effect at the same time they fixed another one when the game received one of the offical patches.
      So, I fixed it ;P

    Hi Albert. Great work as always. I can’t imagine playing the old version after seeing all the updates and corrections you guys have done.

    With all that said, I echo the sentiments of “user”. The light looks too crisp, clean and fresh. It should look a little tinted, so that it looks like the light is coming from an old, rusted, busted truck. Just a slight tint, and maybe dimming it a tiny bit. The lens flare looks perfect, but the light looks like something from a lamborghini, rather than an old rusty truck.

      Seriously tho. It’s the same effect as in the church spot lights. I’m not sure if it can be altered without altering other ones. If it is possible tho, it’d look really cool. πŸ™‚

      Keep in mind that it looked exactly like this before the game “lost” the effect. But I’ve done a subtle change that I think will please everyone πŸ˜‰

        The trucks headlights, in the game cube are bright just like that, dont change that, stay true to the original.

          No worries. It’s a very subtle change πŸ˜‰ And after all those years remastyering this game I know something for sure: original is not always synonymous of better

          The whole point of this remaster is to make it better, why do you think it’s a good idea to keep original qualities of the game that obviously make no sense? The original gamecube version was loaded with signs that said nonsense and objects with misplaced textures — should they keep that too?

    I like the updated version. The first version looked sort of like xenon lights. Really cool that you guys are taking the time to go over the lights in the game as well. A+ Effort πŸ™‚

    Curiously I think that the original headlights tint was pretty accurate. Just a comparison with a car of that time.

    Sigh.. I think the perfectionism has gone through the roof now. Yellow tint is the right one.

      Lol, it’s funny there are all these comments over the headlights. It was worth it, now we’ll all be sure to remember the difference when we play the game.

    Hello again! This update seems really nice and cool as always, youre making the game what it always deserved to be! I just wanted to ask, you guys have the knowledge of the gameΒ΄s files, Im interested in changing the language, cuz RE4 UHD doesnt support Czech Language, so I want to know which files to look for, what programs to use, how to edit and if there is a way to overwrite the old English Language into Czech Language. Something like the old Counter-Strike 1.6 where you just open the file in Text Editor and you can re-write everything yknow πŸ˜€
