    First

  2. E.P.D. Gaffney. says:

Are we really this close? It’ll feel odd for ye when it’s done I’m sure.

So, what exactly is left? Character models, obviously, some general refining, and…? Can’t really think of anything.

    • Cris says:

Hello! What left includes: enemies, NPCs, playable characters, weapon and item improvements, final refinements, etc. Thank you!

      • Kindred says:

I think the wooden box, wooden barrel and vase breaking sounds are a bit outdated, I couldnt think of a better word, but yea, just a thought

        • Cris says:

Thanks for the feedback – I think I understand what you are saying, though honestly that may be out of scope for the project (at least for now!).

          • Kindred says:

You can take some inspiration from the RE2 Remake RPD costume when you touch that up, not the character model just the costume

  3. Christsnatcher says:

Many, many thanks to the developers of this gorgeous uber-mod for the unimaginable amount of dedication and patience you put into it, my deepest respect guys!

  4. Josh says:

I just want to say. You guys have done amazing work. I’ve been following this project for years and its cool to see that you’re nearing completion. Thanks for your dedication and hard work. I’m sure it’ll be a great time playing through this game again with all the careful edits and texture improvements. I may hold off until the characters are done too if I cam wait… I may also put together an ENB to help show it all off. Thanks again.

  5. Jeff R. says:

Is there any particular reason you guys decided to not use a torrent to distribute the release? If you need help with setting one up I’m more than willing to create one — so that less tech savvy users don’t need to know how to recombine the various archive files into a single extracted archive using 7zip or WinRar.

    • James Morales says:

Torrent might be in order due to the fact that GDrive is preventing me from downloading because of “too many users”.

      • Cris says:

Thanks for commenting! For the time being we have added two mirror download options for each file while we work out the longer term solution. Thanks again!

        • Jeff R. says:

The beautiful thing about torrents are that they are distributed systems. Every person that downloads even a part of the file can now upload that part to everyone else trying to download it. So you don’t tax any one system, and you don’t run into availability issues like you do with standard file hosting (Google Drive, Dropbox, Meganz, etc.).

Plus, torrents aren’t illegal or anything. Linux distributions have started to prefer offering downloads via torrent because it’s way faster to download a 4 GB distribution from 100+ peers than it is to download from a single server that may also be hit hard during a major release.

To make a torrent you just need to download a torrent client (I prefer Deluge but there are many different clients). Select the option to create a new torrent, this creates a .torrent file that you can then post on this page, and then anyone who opens the .torrent file in their client can connect to where you have the file stored and it starts the download. Once you’ve distributed the files to a few other users they can start “seeding” or sharing 100% of the data to others that are trying to download. The more people seeding the faster the download goes.

          • Alex M says:

I cannot comprehend why they haven’t posted a torrent yet, it’s obviously the best option and not even hard to set up.

          • albert says:

            Hello!
            We are on it 🙂
            Thank you for the patience!

          • Luciano de Oliveira says:

            Hello Chris and Albert.
I am a big fan of RE4 just like you and i want humbly ask you the following:
As you are working on the caracters still in the mod, Leon’s t-shirt on no remaster or mod of grafics is wrinkled, this is a mistake! Because in the real life it will be. I would love it if you could by the natural wrinkles as in the resident evil degeneration when leon put of the jacket in the movie. Leon’s jacket on any platform or mod if it is perceived that it is leather, it should be possible to perceive, to have the shine of the leather. The white or little yellow parts of the Leon’s jacket are a kind of pelts or animal hair and not leather that should also appear.
(This is going too be so much to ask, but let’s go…) There is an Resident evil you must know, the “resident evil darkside chronicles” where the events take place before the mission that Leon embarks on RE4, where he meets Krauser, it would be amazing for you to make “special 3” outfit from Leon with the clothes he wears on the RE Darkside chronicles with those camouflaged pants, but without the cap haha’ and Ashley can wear the outfit of that girl tha Leon saves in this same game.
And you can choose a outfit type a “special 4” where you can stay with the jacket without losing it.
Well, that’s it, i begginit you haha’
Humbly, i know that i am nobody special, but i am a fan like you, and you realized part of a dream with this mod, always dreamed to see RE4 like this. Thank you guys for doing this amazing job!
I just left my ideas that i believe many fans would also agree and love it. I hope that i am not boring you haha’
Thank you for attention for now on, good job! I commented in all places of this page, because i dont know what is the best place to coment, i sorry to boring you, but i really wanna know what you guys think about that .

          • albert says:

Hello. I’m not sure I understood everything hyou said. In brief: we’ll as faithfull to the original as possible. Wrinkles look bad if they are not moving in a natural way and if they don’t have a natural subtle specular effect and this game can’t reproduce these effects because it was built in an old engine.

About extra costumes, we can’t add new costumes, only replace them, but this is a remaster project, so we won’t change the original outfits

            Thank you for the message!

          • Vito says:

Yes a torrent would be perfect for the size of this thing…looks amazing hopes the performance isnt too bad

          • Jeff R. says:

It won’t let me respond to Albert, so I’ll just reply to myself.

I’ve got a couple of servers that I’ll seed indefinitely on. When you get the torrent up let me know and I’ll start seeding on them =)

          • Cris says:

The torrent is up! I’ve updated the page, but here it is too: https://bit.ly/2Nb1u7F Thanks in advance!!

          • Jeff R. says:

Glad to see you two were able to get the torrent up =D

It was downloading at over 40 Mbps for me. That’s what makes torrents awesome!

I’ll be seeding this on my server until the next major (final?) release is out, then I’ll seed that forever!

Also, while I’m here I wanted to say a massive thank you to both of you for all of your hard work over the years. You guys have been incredibly thorough and dedicated to get to this point. I’m looking forward to seeing the awesome press that will be surrounding the final RE4HD release. Hundreds of thousands of RE4 fans are going to be appreciative of everything you’ve done!

    • Robin says:

You don’t have to recombine them when using WinRAR, as long as they’re in the same folder, WinRAR will extract from all the archives.

  6. Kevin Nguyen says:

Really appreciate what you guys are doing, thanks for making one of my favorite games of all time even better!

    Cheers guys!

  7. Charles says:

The downloads appear to have been getting too much traffic and are disabled. Any chance you can host them somewhere like Mega.nz?

    • James Morales says:

Okay, i’m using a loophole to download right now.

      1. Click “add to my drive” button on the top instead of clicking download
      2. Go to your drive account, right click on the file and click “make a copy”
      3. download the copy
      4. remove after it finishes downloading, then rinse and repeat for the others!

    • albert says:

I’ve added mirror links 🙂 I hope they work!

  8. junjunLeon says:

Great works! Chris and Albert. I wonder if the release can be applied to dolphin emulator.Thank you!

    • albert says:

      Thanks!
Only the textures can be applied. But they should be manually renamed one by one and I’m sure it would take a few weeks/months.
What’s more, some of them should be adapted to the original 3D models because we edited a few textures taking into consideration the new models. (for example, we “unmirrored” some textures)
This is something I guess someone probably will do after the project is complete 🙂

  9. Duckbuster says:

Any change of posting a torrent or something?
I got a server and would host it, but I cant get the drive links to download:
Sorry, you can’t view or download this file at this time.

Too many users have viewed or downloaded this file recently. Please try accessing the file again later. If the file that you are trying to access is particularly large or is shared with many people, it may take up to 24 hours to be able to view or download the file. If you still can’t access a file after 24 hours, contact your domain administrator.

  10. Nelson says:

Thank you so much, although it’s gonna be tough to be able to download 3.9gb files on google drive with their traffic limitations.
Hope you can find an alternative.

  11. gamer gamer says:

If someone wanted to keep with sd textures in RE4HD, would your other corrections still work or is it for the new hd textures only ? Probably a useless question but I was just wondering, lol

    • albert says:

Yes! All the other corrections are there 🙂 We needed to adapt some SD textures in order to make them to match with the new 3D models. But that’s all

      • boneframe says:

        Hello,

Well done on the release. The textures are such an upgrade and the 3d edits add much needed depth to the environment.

I was wondering if you had added/adjusted post processing? There’s a blurring/smearing effect on the camera that is strong enough to create a ghostly trail of an item when dragging the camera across it. (Most noticable when moving the camera past a box or object.) I have motion blur disabled and have tried 30fps and 60fps (it’s more noticable at 30 though). I was wondering if this is part of an intended visual style for RE4HD or if I have bungled up installation? Unfortunately, it has given me a nasty headache so I’ll have to take a break. Dying to get back into it though. If it is meant to be there would you mind giving an option to disable it in the final release if you could?

        Thank you for your hardwork!

        • albert says:

          Hello!
I’m aware of that. It was intentional because the original Gamecube/wii versions of the game also have that effect only in a few areas and it was something that I missed. In fact, the effect is already in the vanilla version, but it’s barely noticeable, probably because the resolution of the game is much bigger than the SD consoles versions (you’ll notice it’s only in a few village stages, am I right?)

I wanted to hear your feedback before taking the final decision about the ghosting effect. And it seems not everybody like it hehe.
But I do, as I’ve mentioned. I remember playing the Gamecube version and feeling how some areas had that effect and it gave them some sort of special vibe, a tense atmosphere… And the fact that some areas had that effect and some others hadn’t was what generated that effect.

But we want to hear more feedback about that before taking the final decision!

      • gamer gamer says:

ok, so I guess its worth keeping the sd texture folder then. Also would be nice if the project got its own steam page so theres less to download to begin with

  12. Diego3250 says:

The files are blocked for being downloaded many times, if you have time, can you upload them on mediafire?
Thanks for doing an amasing job by the way!

  13. RaptorMelon says:

Congratulations on the release! Can’t wait to play the finished version.

Your edits are nothing short of amazing. The hardwork really shows. I’m having a slight issue though. I’m noticing quite a strong blur effect that smears and streaks object when the camera is in motion. I have motion blur disabled. I wasn’t sure if this was a part of the visual style the RE4HD project was going for or if I have maybe installed something wrong. It’s unfortunately giving me a headache so I’d love to be able to disable it if possible.

Again congratulations on your progress thus far. I’ve just reached the church and have been taken my time soaking up the atmosphere provided by the new look.

    • albert says:

      Than you!!
I copy-paste what I’ve just answered to Boneframe:

      «Hello!

But we want to hear more feedback about that before taking the final decision!»

      • gamer gamer says:

why was it only used in certain places to begin with ? A glitch or another techincal reason maybe ?

        • albert says:

          It’s just an artistic/atmospheric reason
It’s certainly a matter of taste if it works fine at HD resolutions or not. So, as I said, We’ll colect all the feedback about this matter and we’ll take a decision based on that feedback.

So, please, any defenders of that motion blur out there? haha

          • gamer gamer says:

I never noticed it before even on gamecube, lol so I guess it doesnt matter to me at least

  14. deadlinksyo says:

Downloads already maxed out. If you guys could offer a mirror it would certainly be awesome

  15. MartyDreamy says:

Hi, unfortunately, google drive says that I can’t download the parts for the elevated number of downloads, how can I download them? I must wait?

  16. dkamm65 says:

Could we get a torrent? The files are blocked from being downloaded.

  17. LexiPixel says:

I need some help. I am getting immediate CTD with no error message as soon as the game boots. No splash screens or anything.

I followed each instruction to the letter with one thing being unclear. Should I unzip all 8 files at once to the main resident evil 4 directory? Or should I do the 7 batches first, then the main zip file? Or the other way around? Main zip then 7 batches? I installed this twice with the same result both times after totally reinstalling Resi 4 both times. IVe got thousands of modding hours in Skyrim and Skyrim VR now as well as too many other games the past 20 years to count so I know I can do it I’m just uncertain where my mistake is exactly.

    Any advice?

    • LexiPixel says:

Oh and I did do the 4gb patch as well and ran the game after it it so I know it was working. It doesn’t do this until I do the extraction and installation.

      Specs
      Nvidia GTX Titan 6gb
      Intel Core i7 4770k @ 4.2 Ghz
      16gb RAM
      Windows 10

      • Frank Nitty says:

I have the same specs (no Titan, just GTX 1070) and I can confirm that when I attempted to enter the first door that leads to the village, my game CTD. After applying the 4gb patch was I able to pass that part.

    • Cris says:

Hi LexiPixel! Sorry for the difficulties — you should download all the files, open the .zip file using WinRAR, 7-zip, or WinZip, and extract everything to the Resident Evil 4 directory. I hope that helps!

    • CatatonicSonic says:

as Cris said, download all the 8 parts,
open the first one (re4hdproject-release3-20180713.zip – 519 MB),
select both files (the folder/the bat) and drag’n drop on re4 main folder,
then follow the installation process in the post
(don’t run the bat as admin)
      g luck 🙂

      • LexiPixel says:

I thought I got it to work but this time I got a CTD upon entering the first Load door into the village. Not sure where Im making a mistake. Gonna have to give up for today I have work soon. I’ll try more later. Hopefully somebody makes a video showing how to install it because I’m definitely missing something obvious.

  18. Sergey Tokarev says:

Did a complete walkthrough with a mod. Magnificent work. Just a thought: maybe you guys should get in contact with Eurogamer’s Digital Foundry. I think they can give you a lot more coverage and inform audience about all the things you modified and fixed in the game. If not now – you really should do it once you’ll finish it with characters/rest of stuff. It’s the definitive version of the game now in my opinion. Thanks again 🙂

    • gfamer gamer says:

DF already mentioned the project in their RE4 video I think

    • gamer gamer says:

yes it`s easily the best version now even if there are a few things not ported from the GameCube version. And I think DF already mentioned their project on the RE4 video

      • Sergey Tokarev says:

It was some time ago. Since then mod received 3d edits for the whole game, fixed bugs from HD ports and even old issues like object pop-up from GameCube version, improved lighting, added lighting effects which is now exclusive to PC UHD version now. I think it deserves a whole new coverage.
Of course, it’s for Albert and Cris to decide, but I strongly recommend to do it when the project will be completed.

    • Frank Nitty says:

Eurogamer had already reported on it and I think IGN did too when the project first started back in 2014, that’s how I knew a/b it.
      After a quick Google search:
      https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2015-08-03-resident-evil-4-ultimate-hd-edition-finally-getting-proper-hd-textures
      http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/08/03/resident-evil-4-hd-project-improves-graphics-on-pc

      • Sergey Tokarev says:

As I said above, it was 3 years ago. Many things have changed since then. It’s not a ‘texture mod’ anymore, but a proper remaster. And it deserves attention.

        • Frank Nitty says:

Regardless of how many changes have occurred since the time it was first originally reported, your semantics don’t change the fact that it has already had abundant proper press for there to be an awareness for the project. Bottom line, the project has been reported multiple times by various outlets and those who have shown interest before now will more than likely be the niche audience who were and are still attracted to the project and showing interest today, and the amount of years it’s been since it was first reported is negligible at best.

  19. Ignacio says:

The files are damaged does not allow me to extract them

    • albert says:

      Hello!
The files should be ok. A lot of people already downloaded and installed them
Maybe there was some problem during the download progress ¿? Could you try downloading them again?

Or maybe it’s just a permissions issue. Try extracting the files inside a public/no-protected/no-system folder

      Sorry for the inconveniences!

  20. PensivePen says:

Congratulations on coming this far, can’t wait to play this and see the final release later on too. Also very nice job with the optional color filters. I tried the two new ones you added and they both have their appeal. Personally filter #4 looks closer to what the Gamecube version looks like on my own CRT despite being less ‘accurate’ to the original textures so I’m glad you included it as an option.

  21. whereswarren says:

Would it be possible to create a torrent for these files? Google drive limitations are failing this release.

    • Cris says:

Thanks for commenting! For the time being we have added two mirror download options for each file while we work out the longer term solution. Thanks again!

  22. BernyMoon says:

Felicidades por el lanzamiento de esta versión 3!

  23. DarkSamus says:

Bit slow to comment, but YAY!

Can’t wait til the files finish downloading.

  24. m4nu88 says:

para windows 10 no ay problema al ejecutar install-scrpit o ay que hacerlo desde cmd ¿?

    • albert says:

      Depende!
Yo tengo Windows 10 y no tengo problema alguno.

  25. Jack says:

    Finally released great work 😀

But ı will wait for torrent release since its near 30gb or more.

  26. Cobalt says:

Do we need to use the new color filter 1 to get the original gamecube color tone? Or is it the default color tone, and the the new color filter 1 is just a “special” twist to gamecube’s color tone?

Also, here’s a bug: on the first entry to the village, the motion blur seems to be toggled whether you have it on or not in the menu.

    • Mark says:

That’s bug happens in every version of the game itself. It has nothing to do with the patch.

      • Cobalt says:

I can confirm though that the effect in the unmodded version is very subtle and is not nearly as prominent as the one here. The one here almost looks like to toggled on the ‘Motion Blur’ setting in the menu.

        • Mark says:

Ok cool. But it’s not caused by the patch, the game itself is broken and what is likely happening is that the primitive motion blur is catching on all the new details coming from the updated textures, making the scene look bad when something moves.

You shouldn’t be playing with motion blur on anyways. It’s implemented terribly due to the old technology the game runs on.

    • Daniel says:

Yeah my motion blur is off but looks like is always on no matter the option :c

  27. Sean says:

Congrats guys! I’ve been following this project for about 3 years now! cant believe is finally here! Now I think its time for me to get a new computer so I can truly enjoy this on a big screen lol 🙂

I’m kind of busy this week to get a chance to actually play the game, but this is so exciting just to know its finally here! I always enjoy watching your work just because of how much you kept to the original and I cant wait to see more! thank you so much for all your hardwork

    • Sean says:

Oh and also its great to see the different gradient color options, I know it probably isnt important but maybe consider adding a “black and white” gradient just cause I think its cool, but I suppose if anybody actually wanted it they could just download it themselves pretty easily

or it might also be fun to play with that multi-colored disco color mod you had teased us with some time ago lol xD

  28. Frank Nitty says:

Hey as a donor whenever I try to download the “Patch for Donors” RAR archive, I get the error that I “can’t view or download this file at this time” because “too many users have viewed or downloaded this file recently.” Any way I can get a working link sent to me directly. Thanks for all your hard work and contributions to make this project a success.

  29. dollmaster says:

Thx a lot, guys. Will you update Progress Summary now?

  30. Thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkssssssssssssssssssssss

for your mod i really like you thank thanks Thanks for your effort ???

  31. none says:

You can bypass Google Drive restrictions with these steps:

Open up those links one by one and add them to your own drive (upper right corner)
    Go to your drive
Right click on each file and create copy
Depending on your space limitation you won’t be able to create more than three files (15 GB)
Start downloading the COPY files with either Jdownlader or IDM
When you’re done with the first three, go for the last five.

ALSO BIG THANKS TO THEM TEAM BEHIND THIS. YOUR EFFORTS ARE APPRECIATED!

  32. BernyMoon says:

  33. Shalnark says:

Albert .. can you upload the file in : http://k-bagi.com

    • albert says:

We’ve included several mirrors and a torrent is on the way!
This is all we can do fo now. I hope it’s enough! 🙂

  34. Filipe Ramos says:

FUCK YEAH! Looking forward to the remastered model textures and characters, THAT’S what I call a remaster. Congrats guys.

  35. Marius Johnsen says:

Congrats on the release guys. This is a huge milestone. Been following this mod for a long while and after seeing the announcement trailer last month, this has been one of my most anticipated release in a long while. It’s been allot of fun playing through the game again with this mod. There were allot of times objects in preview images from improvement posts which i didn’t remember exactly where those objects were located. So many times during my play-through i would be like, “ah, of course, that’s what that was”.

Huge thanks for including the optional files for people like myself with photosensitive epilepsy. Flashing lights in games are something that made me have to evaluate not just if i want to play a game, but if i will be able to. There have been games in the past that i decided that i just couldn’t play it due to certain effects.
I was extremely happy to have convinced Albert to remove the lightning effects in the Village section of the game, but was incredibly humbled when he agreed to go the extra mile and de-flicker all light sources.

Very much looking forward to see posts comparing original and remastered characters some time in the future.

  36. For anyone who may be interested, we published an article about the new release with all the instructions translated into Spanish. You can read it here:
    http://gamuza.es/resident-evil-4-mejorado-ya-disponible-la-ultima-version-del-re4hd-project/

  37. Dan S says:

It’s been a long time coming! Finally, I can enjoy it all! Thank you guys for putting in to work to make this happen!
Now, as far as what happens to the previous update files, do they get overwritten? Are they necessary for the new update files? It seems you can probably delete them, right? Since this update includes the Village and Castle files, but with even more updates, correct?

    • DarkSamus says:

The previous 2 releases are now redundant.

It is recommended that you delete them and verify your files in steam to go back to all original files before installing this release.

  38. Noodle says:

What happened to the subtitles? The option is now greyed out for me an unavailable?

  39. Alex M says:

Please just make a torrent, it’s not difficult.

  40. Milay says:

    Torrent please!!!

  41. foboman says:

    Hi there!
I was expecting this with great anticipation and it looks awesome.
    Just two things:
    1. I can’t seem to be able to find the Additional Graphic Filters option in the Video Options menu. I play in Italian by the way (but it doesn’t seem to be there even switching to english). Is the “Post Processing” voice supposed to be it? In that case it shows “only” 3 options (1,2,3) + OFF.

    2. The game crashes after applying the 4GB patch. Probably I’m doing something wrong tho.

    • albert says:

      Hello!
Are you using an official copy of the game?
The 4th colour filter option was included in one of the latest offcial updates. And we are aware the 4GBpatch makes pirated versions of the game to crash. That’s why I’m asking this to you.

      • foboman says:

Yes, I’m an idiot, I just had to allow steam updates, it looks like my version was outdated. Now everything works fine.

  42. Sergey Tokarev says:

I’ve set up a torrent on rutracker:
    rutracker.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5586916

Albert/Cris are free to post and use it here if they want to.

  43. Martin Sp. says:

    Hi, Albert and Cris.

I get a CTD as soon as I examine the Rifle (semi-auto) with the scope attached to it. This doesn’t happen with the infrared scope or if all the parts are seperate. I have no mods installed and also the game is freshly installed and all the files were checked.

Then there maybe is a typing error in the texture for Adas letter at the beginning of Level 4-3, as long it is pinned on the wodden house where the merchant is into. It says “aguld” instead “adult”.

  44. Filipe Ramos says:

Absolutely love the work! But after this version, the “no film grain” patch crashes the game, is there something that can be done about it? After overwriting the 07000000.pack I can’t load the game anymore.

  45. ClaireRedlynx says:

Good Job Guys ??? i really followed your project since it started and I’m really thankful for you guys for making this. RE 4 for me was the best RE game, since it’s release. Godbless you guys and hoping you get the credits you deserve for your efforts ? The 4 years of journey, hardship and efforts are all worth it. I totally totally LOVE it!!! ❤

  46. Ryan says:

Question… I made the mistake of not starting the game before using the 4GB Patch tool and installing the files from this release and now the game doesn’t start at all. This was a foolish mistake, I know, but now I don’t know exactly how to undo everything I did other than uninstalling the game. Is it possible I may have archived the files incorrectly or the patch tool could be casing issues? It’s a legitimate steam copy of the game and I’ve put 100 hours on it so I don’t understand what I did wrong. Also, should the “RE4HDPROJECT-RELEASE3” folder be 5.23GB in size? If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it.
    Thanks!

    • Cris says:

Hi Ryan! It sounds like you did not download the whole thing. The next step would be to restore the original game files via Steam (don’t worry, this doesn’t replace your game saves), and then re-download the release and follow the instructions. The good news is that we have just added a Torrent option for downloading, so if you go that route, it’ll just be one big zip file to download and extract. I hope that helps, at least!

      • Ryan says:

Hey Cris, thanks for responding! So I ended up reinstalling the game by itself and it turns out the game won’t start up at all regardless of the mod. Upon start-up it’ll appear in the taskbar for a few seconds but then closes itself as if the game crashed. I managed to adjust the config.ini settings by turning off v-sync, turning off fullscreen, etc. but it only makes a white screen appear for a second and then closes itself like always. I’m just dying to get it working as I’ve been waiting for this particular release for months. 🙁

        • Jim A says:

I am having the same issue. I see it in the taksbar, the screen goes black for a second and then nothing. I checked the integrity of the files (option in Steam) and it downloaded the whole game again I think. I went through all of the steps as described and get the same thing. The only weird thing I’ve noticed is when extracting the main file it is saying (in the bottom section of the 7zip window) that there are some instances of ‘missing volume’ or ‘unavailable data’ but it does finish to 100%. The final new folder is about 12 GBs — I’m guessing that’s too small so maybe it’s not extracting everything? (bat file process works ok too)

          • Cris says:

12GB is definitely too small. Did you download the multi-part archive or the single ZIP archive through the Torrent? It might be good to try a different program (for example, WinRAR) for extracting. 🙁

          • Ryan says:

Jim, did you start having this issue only after installing the mod? Because I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the game and I have a very similar issue to you even without the mods. If you find a solution I’d love to hear it and I’ll do the same for you if I find one that finally works. Best of luck man.

  47. Vick S. Bateman says:

I’m not giving this game a replay until this mod is done (then i’ll spend 100$ on both game and donations and treat the purchase as a AAA+ 4K Remaster), but just after seeing a live, all i can really say is thank you. You guys are incredible.

    • Vick S. Bateman says:

Oh man, just saw a comparison between filters and Gradient 1 looks absolutely amazing! OFF looks great too, but Gradient 1 from what i saw on my panel it’s the GC version on a CRT, spot on!
Can’t believe how good everything looks in movement, it’s incredible!

In terms of feedback, i’ve spotted some glitch regarding explosions, like if their layers on some angles appear on top of surfaces and objects that should cover them.
And at the end of r200, a fake shadow of the handrail under the bright light would look amazing. But in general Albert’s shadows are so fucking good, the more the better.

Not the biggest fan only of the white flames from the horses mouth in the Garrador room, and the cold light of a few outdoor torchs.. and the Leon torchlight color change.. 😛
But for the rest, this is basically what perfection looks like and it’s without a doubt the best fan made thing i’ve ever seen.

  48. LexiPixel says:

I love all the work you’ve done but I’m just going to have to give up. I’ve done a complete reinstall 3 times now and the furthest I can get is in-game. Once I hit the load door to the village the game crashes. I just can’t get it to work no matter what I do or what order I extract stuff in. No clue what I’m doing wrong but, I feel preeeeetty stupid lmfao.

Anyways thanks so much for all your hard work on this. I guess I’ll just wait until somebody makes a YT tutorial for it. I bought Resi 4 during the last Summer sale just for this, too.

    • Cris says:

A YouTube tutorial is a great idea! I will try to put that together, though it may take some time due to time constraints. In the meantime, if you ran the batch script it would have generated a log text file in the Resident Evil 4 folder. It’s called “re4hdproject-install-log.txt” Could you email that to us at contact@re4hd.com ? We can take a look and perhaps see where something went wrong.

Also, there’s now a Torrent option for downloading. That Torrent gives you just one ZIP file to extract (instead of a multi-part archive). So you would 1) restore the original game files via Steam, 2) do the 4GB patch tool, 3) extract the zip file to the right folder, 4) run the batch script.

      Sorry for all the difficulties!

      • LexiPixel says:

It’s not your fault at all Cris, no apology necessary. I feel like it’s user error I’m just making some mistake that is probably obvious but I cannot see it.

I’m going to get the torrent and attempt it again with those files.

Thank you so much for taking time and responding. You and Albert are just the best. Honestly and truly.

        • phil says:

          Hello LexiPixel,
do you have a mod install.
if so install the clean game in a new folder.

          • LexiPixel says:

No I’ve never modded Resident evil 4 before this., and in my statement above I pointed out I’ve done the reinstall 3 times already. That isn’t the error I’m having.

Also before it’s mentioned yes I do have a legitimate copy of the Steam version of the game.

            Gonna try the torrent today.

  49. Dreadfield says:

Guys i want report that mod works like a charm thankyou

    • albert says:

      Excellent news!!
      Thanks for the report hehe

      • Dreadfield says:

the mod looks amazing ista mind blowing i cant stop playing to see every corner ,
guys is it possible to fix the positional audio from the enemy foot steps? i know they arent 5.1 sound,
i ask this my self beacuse you fixed some minor sound bugs , but positional its diferent and m,ore complex , maybe there isnt anyway to acces to sound codes :8

  50. coldiori says:

    I have found a bug.

When I chose Wesker in merc play, and when i open status ,the game was crash.

I found the reason is the silencer in the attache case.

    Can you fix it?

    • albert says:

      Hello!
I’m testing it right now and it works just fine.
Did you install any other mods?
      Which language are you using?
      Thanks!

      • coldiori says:

        Hello.

        Thanks for your testing.
        I didn’t install any mods.The language is English.And my os is Windows7.

Sorry.I have tried Wesker in Merc once more.It works OK.

But I used the trainer and let the silencer apperance in Leon’s case.
In this 3rd-release,when using Leon open the case, the game was crash.
        You can test it.
        Thank you!

        • albert says:

          Oh, ok!
That’s because we removed all beta and unused items from Leon’s inventory for optimization reasons. That was the only way of making the other models high-polygon…
ss_pzzl.dat file (the file that contains all inventory models) has a strict size limitation…

It could be reintroduced as a simple 2D image in the inventory if there is enough demand. After all, this piece is an accidental leftover and it shouldn’t be in the Leon’s main game. And there’s no way of obtaining it unless you use a trainer or some cheat codes if I’m not mistaken

(Wesker silencer is another story. The other character’s inventory items are stored in a different file)

          • coldiori says:

            Thanks for your explain.

Anyway if I use the 3rd release,I couldn’t use the silencer in Leon’s story. Is it right?
But I like the silencer very much, could you tell me some way that lI can use the silencer again?

            Thank you very much!

          • albert says:

Yes that’s right. I removed all beta and repeated items from the inventory because I needed extra bytes to make the other item hi-poly. ss_pzzl.dat file (the file that store all Leon inventory models) has a really strict file size limitation.

But I can simply bring the silencer back as a simple 2D image. This way the filesize will remain the same. I guess that’s the best idea 🙂

          • coldiori says:

So the fix will be in the next release,is it right?
Or you will fix it immediately?

I am looking foward to you.

            Thank you very much

  51. bob-ttz says:

Mod is awesome! Thank you guys for your work. But it conflicts with translation into my language, which replaces most of the game files. So I can not play with your mod 🙁

  52. Wesker says:

Hello ! I’ve downloaded the files from Google Drive but don’t manage to install the mod correctly. All files were extracted in a folder called “RE4HDPROJECT-RELEASE3” as mentioned in the tuto (total 28.4Gb). When i launch the bat, most of the files are “not found”. What’s goind on :/ ? Should i download once again the whole thing from torrent this time ?

    • dkamm65 says:

Try the Windows 10 instructions found here:

      https://www.re4hd.com/?page_id=4750

      • Wesker says:

I’m using W7 64 but gave a try anyway to the command line option. I didn’t help.
I’m downloading the torrent version, maybe there was something wrong with the Good Drive files…

      • Wesker says:

I’m using W7 64 but gave a try anyway to the command line option. It didn’t help.
I’m downloading the torrent version right now, maybe there was something wrong with the Good Drive files…

    • Cris says:

Hi there! Can you confirm that the folder and script file were placed in the correct folder? Basically I think it could be one of three things:

      1. The RE4HDPROJECT-RELEASE3 folder and script file were not put into to the right place. (See instructions page)

      2. You have limited admin access and so when the script goes to move the files, Windows won’t let it. If it’s an access issue then perhaps following the Win10 instructions that dkamm65 posted is worth trying.

      3. The archive could have been downloaded incompletely and some files are missing, but that seems unlikely given the size of the files that you reported.

I hope this at least gives you something to try toward fixing the issue!

      • Wesker says:

My download manager extracted itself all files from the archives, and i’ve put them in a folder named as intended. Put the whole thing in the base RE4 folder with the bat file aside. And all look like the instructions picture. Then launching the bat, i answer N/Y/N and then no files are found and nothing installs. The game works fine, and previous mod release is still working fine. Maybe i should delete the whole game from Steam and try again with a fresh install ?

        • Cris says:

Oh, yes, we generally recommend that it’s better to start with a fresh install. But it sounds like your issue is more likely an access issue from what you describe. The batch file generates a log text file in the same folder as the batch file called “re4hdproject-install-log.txt” If you have a chance, could you email it to use at contact@re4hd.com (or somehow share it with us)? That can help us troubleshoot further.

        • albert says:

That would be nice to try 🙂 But before that, could you check what’s inside the “RE4HDPROJECT-RELEASE3” folder?

          • Wesker says:

Albert, you were on the right answer it seems ! I’ve downloaded the torrent, and once extracted, i had 2 folders in the main one. The mod is installing fine now. I dunno why all files were extracted by jdownloader the first time, without sub folders. Case closed 🙂
Can’t wait to continue my run now, thanks so much for all your hard and beautiful work !

          • albert says:

            Hehe! Glad to hear that!
Jdownloader went too far it seems hehe

  53. Cobalt says:

    Ok, here’s some more bug.
I’m halfway through the game and as I go along, something strange appeared.
    https://imgur.com/a/AWIaJ1v
I’m don’t recall there being novistadors in this room. There’s 2 of them there, one just stands still until you approach. Was this added there purposely?

If this was a bug, then there maybe some more along the way.

    • albert says:

They were in the Gamecube version and we restored them 🙂
      https://youtu.be/bpJkZtezJHE?t=1h23m24s

That’s the reason for that hole in the floor in that room. A pair of Novistadors scaped from the sewers.
It’s true their behaviour is somehow passive. I hope I can fix it and make them as agressive as usual!

      • Cobalt says:

        oh ic.

      • Cobalt says:

I’m curious, did you guys also ramped up the difficulty somehow?
I’m playing through normal mode and I’m receiving damage seemingly like that of pro. One scythe cultist manage to chop off 5 bars of my life (half of leon’s max health) with one strike on normal mode.
I know scythe cultist have high damage but this much on normal mode?

        • albert says:

Nope. We didn’t edit anything other than the graphic assets and some sound files (and those 2 Novistadors hehe)
Other than this, all the rest should remain the same 🙂

          • Cobalt says:

            Oh. Thanks man, gotcha!

As for this game, I believe this was based on the gamecube version rather than the later ones. Alsdo, I think pro mode removes the dynamic difficulty of the game.

        • Sean says:

Hi, I have not played this version yet, but that is awesome to see the addition/replacement of missing enemies. I love playing the game on the harder difficulty and I know that the PS2 port of RE4 was changed/reduced in difficulty.

The PS2 port had reduced the maximum number of enemies that were able to be in a single area, this is mostly noticeable in the “water room” with the cranks where the ganado count was reduced from about 40 to 30 (not exact just guessing)

I have read (but cannot confirm) The PS2 port also changed/altered the hp and enemy damage ratios, and possibly even herbs. I do not know exactly how/why but I read somewhere that it was to balance out with the reduction of ganados. On top of that, they removed the extra armor from the alternate RCPD outfit for leon and made you lose the armor in New Game+

Now, I personally have played the gamecube version over 30 times. I also played the Wii versions and 2007PC version once or twice, which are said to be based on the PS2 port with altered HP/ganados,etc. When the Xbox360 port was released, I became concerned about a change in the difficulty compared to that of the gamecube version. To me, it felt as though the Xbox360 version was harder on normal, yet easier on Pro. I cannot confirm this but that is how it felt to me.

I do not know which version the Steam/UHD port is based on, but the armor is not added to Leons RCPD outfit, so it is clearly not based on the gamecube version, but I believe they did fix the reduction in ganados.

Maybe somebody else can confirm this for me, as to how much HP/damage is dealt in this version compared to the original?

          • albert says:

I’m not sure about the difficulty details (I know there are differences but I don’t know which one is harder and why) but the RPD outfit never had the tactical vest when you buy it. This is something exclusive to the “Normal” outfit. I never saw Leon with the RPD uniform and the additional vest over that outfit. Not even in the Gamecube version.

Also, the water room have more or less enemies depending on how good or bad you played the game before reaching that point. Sometimes you have those extra enemies with the crossbow in the balconies and those enemies that appear when you use the crank and the path with the stairs is opened, but sometimes there are no enemies in the balconies nor the stairs.

          • Sean says:

“I never saw Leon with the RPD uniform and the additional vest over that outfit.”

I’m not talking about a visual change, I know the armor is not seen visually, but in the Gamecube version the RPD outfit had reduced damage as if you were wearing the armor (even when you had not purchased it)

“more or less enemies depending on how good or bad you played the game before reaching that point”

I know how the game reduces the difficulty if/when you die, which is why I always reload a previous save instead of continuing from a checkpoint. Again that is not what I’m talking about here.

I’m saying that if you compare the amount of HP lost per attack it varies depending on which version you play, meaning that the amount of HP lost from an attack might be lower in the original gamecube version, because the developers of the PS2 altered the damage ratios when they changed ganado count and new difficulty settings that were added into subsequent ports of the game. Remember the gamecube version does not allow you to select Easy from the main menu because the game does not have the ability to reduce the difficulty when/if you die like it does on normal or pro.

Heres a more detailed example of the changes from Gamecube to PS2
            http://www.ign.com/faqs/2006/biohazard-4-bonus-disc-gcnps2-version-differences-faq-662435

I only bring this up because I believe all other ports of the game come from the PS2 port rather than the Gamecube version (which is why the damage ratios are not the same as in the original), and from my experience, it almost seems as though newer versions are harder on normal, but easier on pro at least thats how it felt the last time I played

          • albert says:

            Oh! I see
            thanks for the documentation!

Everything involvind the difficulty in this game is a real mess haha
Japanese versions are easier. There are also some differences between Usa and Pal versions. Then we have the PS2 port which made even more changes. The Wii version, based on the Gamecube version, but it also have some PS2 remains (Some of them inside the playability territory?? who knows…)
After that, everything about difficulty should stay the same (just my guess). The PS3/X360 are based on the Wii, the 2014 is based on the X360 and the PS4 is base on the PC/X360…

          • Sean says:

THIS IS NOT MY WORDS – I COPY PASTED FROM THE LINK ABOVE…
            Professional Mode made Easy?

I hope to god that this is just a mind trick or something, but Professional Mode for me is SOOO much easier than Normal mode on the PS2 version. I walked into the Village with one thing on my mind “Conserve” and I went about shooting
and slicing like I normally do, and I walked away with more ammo than I did when I played thru on Normal (read Ammo Rarity for more). I’m right after Ashley gets carried off by Novistadors and the game seems SO much easier and I
don’t have any power weapons (CT, IRL or HC). I’m going out on a limb with this, but I think Capcom may have coded Normal and Pro mode wrong; they may have had Normal the hard difficulty and Pro the easy. I hope they didn’t pass
            up something that obvious.

          • Sean says:

ANOTHER COPY PASTE FROM THE LINK ABOVE
            – Ammo Rarity –

It seems that ammo is MUCH rarer to come by, or Capcom has upped the baddies health on Normal mode, because I’m running out of ammo quicker, and I’m a conservative. I never ran out of ammo in the early part of the first encounter in the village town, but I ran out of bullets fighting the third Ganado! It seems Capcom got complaints about how there was an abundance of ammo in the game, so they toned it down in the PS2 version.

NOTE: I believe I’ve found out why you run out faster. Ammo is coming in smaller packages. I’m finding Shotgun ammo more in 2s and 3s rather than 5s and 10s. Handgun ammo is coming in the 10s more often than 20s. Rifle ammo seems to come always in 2s.

          • Sean says:

sorry about posting 5x in a row. I would love to talk to you on discord about this more in detail so that we dont have any confusion about things, because Im very passionate about RE4 and I do believe this is a MAJOR flaw that is often overlooked by the majority of players

        • Sean says:

Personally, I enjoy the game being harder, but I wish that professional mode was not easier!

          • Sean says:

Another change is that the First Aid spray cost 10,000pts in the gamecube version but only 5,000 in later versions… why make the game easier?

    Hello

Sorry to bother you again, but as I mentioned in my comment above, I have a problem with the semi-auto Rifle. I tried to fix the crash by installing the Ultimate HD Weapon Pack from your fellow modder Negaarmax, but the game still crashes.
Maybe this issue is only on my side, but I can’t figure it out.

Thanks again for your great work.

    Regards, Martin

mod looks amazing but this light flickering is so annoying like i can’t even image how anyone would want to play like that it looks so unnatural and i just can’t stand it, good thing you gave us a choice to disable it, big thanks for that, everything else is absolutely wonderful

  57. Max says:

I have a problem. It is recommended to play 30 fps instead of 60 fps but when I play on 30 fps mode the game works very slow (it’s under 20 fps) on 60 fps mode the game runs very smoothly (50-60 fps) but when I play on that mode the game crashes after I kill first 4 guys (one in the house and three outside). It should crash or not?

  58. TacoDeBoss says:

Hey, guys. I just played through the whole game – great work, though I’d love an option to disable the motion blur effect.
I’m also curious – during the entire playthrough I couldn’t get a single enemy to fall from a ledge, and I tried quite hard. Is this a side-effect of this mod?

    • albert says:

Thank you for letting us know! but here on my side I can make them fall with no problems… that’s a weird thing!
I’m afraid I don’t have an answer for your eight now… Anybody else experienced the same issue??

About the motion blur, we received several complains so I guess we’ll do something about that 😉

      • TacoDeBoss says:

Maybe I just got unlucky, haha. It’s probably not a problem.

I did notice one other thing, too. Chapter 2-1 has two issues: one is that Leon’s flashlight model doesn’t seem to be turned on during that chapter, and also the water from the waterfall seems to flicker and have some graphical errors. Just thought I’d let you know! Thank you for your hard work 🙂

  61. YoungHT says:

I’ve tried to install the files numerous times, both as admin and not, as well as through the command line (which worked with the previous two releases) but none have worked. Some of the files get moved but the vast majority it says “can’t find the path”, “invalid switch” etc. The game folder looks exactly as the release page says it should.

    • Cris says:

Could you share with us the “re4hdproject-install-log.txt” file that gets created in the same folder when you run the batch file? Feel free to send it to contact@re4hd.com. That will help us troubleshoot – thank you!

  62. dkamm65 says:

I’m getting random crashes. I’m only up to the farm and I’ve already gotten three crashes that weren’t on zone transitions. I have the 4GB patch and I installed the textures exactly as instructed using the Windows 10 specific guide. Log here: https://pastebin.com/6VWqEDhN

This was on a completely fresh install of the Steam version. Windows 10 64bit, 16GB of RAM, and 6GB of VRAM.

    • Cris says:

I’m sorry – it sounds like you followed everything as expected. Can you confirm if this happens (i.e. random crashes) without our mod installed?

  63. LexiPixel says:

Hey Cris and Albert. One last comment here. I got it working with the torrent version of the mod.

It is so impressive in motion. Thank you for all the work you’ve done I’m really enjoying myself. The remaster this game deserved. Cheers.

The game crashes to desktop when you examine the semi-auto with scope, even with the 4gb patch.

    • albert says:

Hummm… it doesn’t crash here in my computer, but there’s a bug and the scope load the wrong texture, that’s true. But it shouldn’t make the game to crash.
Could someone els try to examine the semi-auto with scope?

You are talking about the normal scope, not the infrared scope, right?

      Thanks for letting us know!

      • Martin Sp. says:

Well … I wrote exactly about the same crash two times before, but I am not a native english speaker, so maybe my comment was offending.

So to make it clear now: Yes, we are talking about the normal scope, when you examine the semi-auto rife.

  65. Adam Cullen says:

This is just Marvellous!!! I’m enjoying hell-outta my time with this game again, (all credits to you guys) , the work you did is uncomparable. After watching the very first cutscene it gave me that WOOAAH!! feeling! (I’ll make a comparison video on my you-tube channel soon). While playing , I just stop & start looking around with camera, man ! it makes me so happy to be able to enjoy this beauty, and THE GRADIENT is such a welcome addon, it makes the experience FAAAAAAAAAAAR better than any version of the game out there. You guys gave this game new life, & tbh playing the game in 60 fps truly pops-out the details of this project, without sacrificing graphical effects (like motion blur, film grain). I just have one question, are the changes present in the Original texture option too (specially the lightning of merchant lamp & torch effects from HD texture option) cuz i’m noticing them in original too! may be i messed with files or something but if it is so its a nice surprise. Thanks again!

I don’t have any experience unzipping/zipping files archives etc. Could someone give some assistance in lay mans terms on what exactly the process is?

    Thank you in advance!

    • Dav says:

Hi, I’m not very familiar with 7Zip as I use WinRar, but if you right click on the file you’ve downloaded, there should be an option to “Extract Here” or similar. This will unzip the file so you can then follow the installation instructions. Please feel free to ask if you need any more help or didn’t understand 🙂

    44000108.pack
    44000113.pack
    44000333.pack

  73. Mike says:

Thank you very much Albert & Cris for this gorgeous work, may God bless you both!

Now here some issues I found:

The game crash when I examine the Rifre-SemiAuto Scope and it will also crash if I try to examine the Rifle-SemiAuto with Scope equipped.

Assigment Ada crash right after I press Game Start even if I select Original Textures.

Ada’s Report crashed one time after I played The Mercenaries, I looked all reports from #1 until #5 skipping and then I retuned to main menu and it crashed, I couldn’t trigger this crash yet it only happened one single time.

I would like to request an option to remove the film grain and the motion blur as well. 🙂

    • Cris says:

Hi there. The crash when examining the rifle / scope is a known issue and we will be addressing it via a patch in the near future. I’m not certain as to the cause of the other crashes, though. Have you used the 4GB patch? Take a look at the instructions page again for that. Without it you will keep getting random crashes. I hope that helps!

  74. Martin Sp. says:

    Hi

Would it be possible to improve the FMVs from Seperate Ways? MatrixCN has created some for the 2007 release and perhaps his could be used as a replacement.
I know the FMVs are SFDs but I ‘ve found, out that these are Sega Dreamcast Movie files, which could be created using Dreamcast Movie Creator. Sadly I wasn’t able to convert MatrixCNs files.

    • Pauls says:

His cut scenes were created using emulated gamecube version, and that version had no seperate way campaign. Maybe it is still possible to replace cut scenes, but it will be very difficult to recreate them.

    • Cris says:

I wish we could! Beyond what Pauls said, the game automatically crops / and resizes any higher resolution SFDs to the resolution of the original SFD files used in the game. So for now, even if some creates and renders an HD version of a given scene, when you plug it into the game, you only get a small cropped portion of the video. Maybe I’m not doing the best job of describing, but suffice it to say it’s still not something within the scope of what we are able to do. 🙁

      • Martin Sp. says:

That is a bit disapointing. What were these guys from Capcom thinking, when they create the “UHD” version. Using oldschool videos and lowres textures isn’t really an improvement to the game.

  75. Ascaron says:

Installed and enjoying the HD life, thank you so much! It’s amazing!

Having a bit of a problem. After the battle with verdugo there’s room once you got off the elevator. I save my game go through the door and the game crashes. I’ve already used the 4gb patch and I tried turning off the hd textures and neither worked.

    • Kaludio says:

try the 4gb patch again, that helped me

      • George Lincoln Rockwell says:

wtf now it’s not working at at all

        • Cris says:

Before you tried the 4GB patch, did it crash every time you went into that room? In addition, were you using any sort of Field of View adjustment?

          • George Lincoln Rockwell says:

if you’re asking with this release i used the 4gb patch after it crashed when i was climbing out of that well so I don’t know if it would’ve worked without it. But it worked fine with the previous castle release. And no i’m not using any FOV adjustments.

          • George Lincoln Rockwell says:

I’ve replaced the exe with the backup so the game works now but it still crashes when i try to go through the door to the mine.

          • Cris says:

Thank you. Would you mind going into the following folder and confirming that this file is present and that it’s about 12.3 MB in size: BIO4/St2/r223.udas ? I’m trying to figure out if the 3D model information for that stage is somehow missing.

          • George Lincoln Rockwell says:

the “r223.udas” file is there but it’s only 3.06 mb

          • Cris says:

Please download this file and replace the 3.06mb one with this one: https://drive.google.com/open?id=17r21k_McVoU1JaiW9MPmkSgZ8Ut4JjnS

      • Tiago says:

Yes, I followed every step, it’s pretty simple…
I’m not sure why, but I was trying to install running the .batch with “Run as Administrator” which was giving me that message… but once I tried with a simple direct double click, it installs :s

One of the things I love are the sandbags piled up, they look great now, but there are so many new things I couldn’t give thanks for everything one at a time it would take forever. • Cris says:

Hello there! You can disregard those final few messages from the install script – it should not affect anything. Those files relate to added Chinese language support files, and if you’re running a version prior to 1.1, then you don’t have to worry about it.

I’m sorry to say but I can’t seed any more for this month. I vastly underestimated how many people would be downloading this release. I’ve seeded the 18.2 GiB file over 80 times, and I’m getting close to reaching the limit of monthly bandwidth of 2 TiB on my seed box. As soon as my bandwidth limit resets in August I’ll be resuming seeding.

There appears to be over 130 seeders currently with 113 peers downloading. For anyone downloading this release, please continue to seed at least to a ratio of 2 if you can.

Jeff, thank you so much for your help in getting the mod out there via Torrent. And I’m glad you noticed the bandwidth usage before it exceeded your limit!

Sometime I got slow-mo a bit in the large area, I’m using 960M, i7 6700HQ and 8GB Ram, all patch (included 4gb patch installed), is this normal?

  85. Musician500 says:

Found a minor glitch. After loading the game with the original textures, then reloading with HD textures, objects on the “will you pick up this item” become low res.

    • albert says:

Yep. that’s a common “issue”. Now the ingame item textures are stored inside 07000000.pack file.
You need to go back to the main title screen (the PRESS ANY BUTTON screen) and the game will re-load the right 07000000.pack file (HD or SD), or simply restart the game. It’s been always like this, but most textures in 07000000.pack file were only effect textures and it was almost an unnoticeable problem.
      Thank you for the message!!

  86. Jack says:

Just saw torrent is ready, thanks.

  87. First of all, thank you guys for this. The game truly shines with your pack, and has never looked this wonderful.
However, I found the same problem others have reported when examining the semi-auto rifle with the sights attached to it. No problem when examining the separate components, but examining the rifle with the scope causes the game to crash to desktop.
This is a fresh install of the game and mod.
I wanted to try and download the file you provided to other people, but the download links had expired. If this is a common issue, maybe you should update the download section with that file for everyone to get.

  88. Jerry says:

Hi! Great work and the game looks amazing with your mod, how long do you estimate it will take before you’re completely done with everything? And do you have any plans on contacting Capcom and ask them to make this an official patch for the game, across more platforms/versions of the game? I for one would definitely buy the inevitable, upcoming Switch-version of RE4 if it had your mod integrated as a default… Is contacting Capcom about this (to make your mod an official patch to their game) something you’re thinking about doing?

Also: I’m at a loss as to how I should apply the 4GB patch, do I simply unzip the file from Winrar and drag it into the RE4 directory?

Thanks for your awesome work, looking forward to the upgraded NPC:s and playable characters! 😀

    • albert says:

      Hi Jerry! 🙂
And thank you! We already contacted them in the past. There’s nothing else we can do about it right now other than waiting.

About the 4GB patch it’s simple:
      1- Run 4gb_patch.exe
2- Select C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Resident Evil 4\Bin32\bio4.exe (or wherever you have the game installed) as target file.

      I hope it helps!

    • Sean says:

“I for one would definitely buy the inevitable, upcoming Switch-version of RE4 if it had your mod integrated as a default”

That would be awesome, but I doubt the switch would -IMO- be able to keep a decent frame rate for this mod . It would still be cool to see a standard UHD release though! Maybe we can get a petition going around for Capcom to also include wii-mote controller support and maybe eventually VR for the PC version too!

  89. […] HD zu kreieren. Ihre Mod steht nun kurz vor der Fertigstellung – kann aber bereits schon als “fast fertige”-Version heruntergeladen […]

  90. Noel says:

Hi guys, first of all i want to thank you all for all the great work you put in this. For a verteran in this game (i think i’ve played it a thousand times since it’s release), seeing this upgrade it’s really enjoyable and makes a huge difference visually; so thank you for all the effort.

Now, i’m having a crash issue in the game that i still wasn’t able to solve since yesterday. I’m at the battle with Bitores Mendez (The Big Cheese, as Luis says). After i win that battle and go back to the door, the game crashes. For now, i already tried:
    1) Reinstalling the game
    2) Make the battle longer (to see if it was a time issue)
    3) Reload a previous save and make all the way to the battle again.
For now, nothing worked and can’t go through the campaign. During these days, i’ll try a couple more things to see if i can identify the problem:
    1) Try to pass this withouth the HD Textures (to discard the chance that the mod is the cause)
    2) Try another base game
    3) I’ll do a quick test going to the door and coming back at it right away, to see if the crash already appears at that point (for now i only tested it after battling Mendez).

I’m using a repack version of the game, so i can’t apply the 4GB patch. The specs of my pc are plenty, so i don’t think this is the issue. Also don’t think that the issue is the mod, but the base game itself (for what i saw on Steam forums, this HD version was riddled with crash and issues).

Anyway, if you have any idea how could i solve it, i’m all ears. Also, i found a couple of bugs, that again i don’t know if they are related to the HD textures or the game itself:
    1) A flickering problem (at one time, the screen started to flickering, and had to close and reopen the game again. For now, it only happened once).
    2) When you die and choose “No” to continue so you go back to the main menu, and try to load a save again, the game crashes to desktop.

Again, thank you for all the work, i’ll keep you posted if i find a solution to my issue.

    Regards

    • Noel says:

Quick update: Apparently it solved itself. Yesterday when i did the first try, work like nothing happened. I’m guessing that the issue that the patch usually solves was that thing, and a reboot or shutdown was needed to clean memory or something like that. Also, the “bug” to re-load a save from title menu after dying was solved, so i’m guessing was for the same thing.

Once again, thanks for the work you all put on this, it really means a lot

    • Cris says:

I appreciate your level of detail in describing the issue you’re encountering. Unfortunately without the 4GB patch as an option, it’s very difficult to know the root cause, I’m sorry. If it’s possible, using a genuine copy of the game would be the most effective solution. I’m sorry I don’t have a better answer in this case. 🙁

  91. Max says:

    Hi!
Thanks for your guys amazing work.My friend told me he may have found a glitch.
The game crashed when player first time meet merchant’s cutscenes, whether the language is Simplified Chinese or Traditional Chinese. But it works fine on English.

    • albert says:

Yep! I think I found what the problem was. I’m waiting for the confirmation of a Chinese user who’s doing the testing for me 🙂
If everything is ok as I think it is, the only “corrupted” cutscene when Chinese subtitles are ON is the “Got something that might interest you” cutscene
We’ll post a patch soon that correct this issue and some extra adjustments/fixes

  96. HHRSN18 says:

I’m using special costume 1 with Ada Wong’s RE2 outfit and the game crashes whenever she appears in a cutscene. What can I do to fix this problem?

    • albert says:

Hello! There shouldn’t be any problems with her RE2 outfit.
Could you send us the log file that was generated when you installed our Pack? You’ll find it inside the …\Resident Evil 4 folder
This way we can see if some file wasn’t installed properly 🙂

Also, did you install any other mods before/after installing our pack?

  97. John Johnson says:

Awesome mod! I am finally gonna play and finish this game. My question is, after running a test to see if the mods work (it did btw and it’s so pretty) the cutscene between Luis and Leon on Ch 1-2(?) Where Leon and Luis were captured and having a conversation while handcuffed, but the audio was ahead of the scene. Is there a way to fix that? And is that gonna happen often on future cutscenes?

    • albert says:

      Hello!
Thank you for letting us know. It’s a tricky question, because it’s been proved this game has very different performance behavior depending on the machine (and it’s not always ralated to the power of the machine)
But we take note of that! Let us know if you notice any other cutscenes with audio desync
Oh! I’m assuming that desync issue wasn’t there before installing our pack, Am I right?

      • TacoDeBoss says:

Yeah, I get desync on that cutscene as well, and I’ve tried loading the save just before the cutscene several times, and it’s always out of sync by the same amount (half a second or so), not an issue on the original game.

I recall one other cutscene being out of sync, but I can’t quite remember which 0ne it was. I’ll have to look for it later.

      • John Johnson says:

Yep! I went back to the older save because I’m currently streaming it too, just to check if everything looks good. Then boom the desync happened.

        • albert says:

I thinks it’s caused by the order the game loads the files.
When the cutscene is loaded just at the beginning of a stage (like in this case) the game needs more time to load the new stage textures, but it seems the cutscene already began before it finishes loading those stage file. But it doesn’t happen in all cutscenes that are placed at the beggining of a stage… the order the game loads the files is somehow random.

You can easily check it in the Movie Browser. You’ll notice some cutscenes have desync and some otheres doesn’t. But this doesn’t mean it will be exactly like this in an actual gameplay, because the game already loaded the stage textures before the cutscene begins for most of them (with the exception of those areas that start with a cutscene, like the aforementioned one)

    • Pauls says:

When i watched stream of mod, i noticed desync in one cut scene, but it happened because game was minimised during cut scene. Personally i had no desync in cut scene with Leon and Luis, so it may be really performance problem.

  98. John Johnson says:

So far a cutscene, where Leon and Luis got captured in Ch 1, the audio is ahead of it’s scene. Is there a way to fix this? And is this gonna happen on future Chapters? (I’m finally starting and trying to finish RE4.) Awesome job nonetheless.

    • Cris says:

My understanding is that this issue happens with cut-scenes that occur at the very beginning of a stage being loaded. For some people the textures take slightly longer to load, but the audio has already started, and the result is a desync. This doesn’t happen for cut-scenes that occur during levels (i.e. after the room has already loaded). Currently there isn’t a set fix for this as far as I’m aware.

      • TimeLoss says:

Setting vsynch to 0 in the ini and then never going into video settings (it resets vsynch to 1) seems to have fixed the Audio for me in the beginning of the chapter.

Note: I use a hybrid HD/SD drive so it is also possible the textures eventually loaded faster in a subsequent playthrough and vsynch had nothing to do with it.

          • albert says:

            Ambas cosas!
Supongo que no tardaremos muchos días
Gracias de nuevo por difundir nuestro proyecto! 😀

  100. Maximilian says:

I really hope this will go live on consoles version, i know the chances are pretty low but i follow this project since so long it makes me dream about it.

  101. Goon says:

It is very fantastic !! It’s so cool !!
    Thank you!!
However, I play games in Korea,
Korea does not officially support language at capcom, so there are only user patches made in 2014.
It is provided in Korean by modifying the Spanish file.
All Koreans enjoy the game with the unofficial patch,
Unfortunately, HD project is not compatible with this .. ㅠㅠ
    it’s too bad.
I have to enjoy the HD project in English but I am very grateful.

  102. Андрей says:

Absolutely awesome job, guys 🙂 I’ve been watching for four years and I’m glad that now I can finally play, thank you Albert and Chris! But I have a question. I know that there is still work left (models, menus etc.), when you finish it, when will the final release, let me ask?

    • albert says:

      Thank you! 😀
As usual, we don’t think about estimated times. This is better for us so we can save us the psychological pressure.
      Thank you for the patience!

  103. Martin Sp. says:

Okay. I’ve finally played through the main game and Ada’s missions and I am totally impressed! Your work was a great experience, throughout all of the game. There are countless things, that made me rub my eyes in tears! You even have added a windows to the house with the entrance to the underground passage to the church. Amazing! And those Novistadores, which are restored from the Gamecube version, literally scared my ass off. 😀

BUT there is one thing, I really don’t like about the progress and that is, that this project comes to an end. For me it could last forever until the last bits of RE4 are improved to the maximum. 😉

One last and really a tiny remark: The drum magazine of the Typewriter hasn’t a lot of polygons. Negaarmax has a smoother one in his weapon pack. Perhaps he allows you to use it.

    Thanks again!

    • albert says:

You made my day with your message 🙂
I feel the end of the project will be a “what should I do now with my life” moment hahaha

About the weapons, they are not finished yet. So you can expect some slight and big changes in the final pack 🙂 But it’s true Negaarmax did a great job with his weapon pack!

      • Martin Sp. says:

I am sure that after finishing the project, Capcom will hire you as a texture artist, for the upcoming RE8 😉

  104. Chris R says:

Don’t know if you guys answered this yet but any idea when the final release will be? I’m just going to wait for the final to experience it as intended. Seems like you are almost there! Thanks for the hard work.

    • albert says:

      Don’t mention it! 🙂
We still don’t know, we just make progress as fast as we can, but we don’t think about time.
      Thank you for your patience!

  105. WannaDJ says:

I’d like to thank you, guys, for the amazing work on this release, I gotta say that with all the new improvements (HD Menu, Map, Color Grading, etc.) this is a legit Ultimate HD experience!

Wouldn’t be amazing that CAPCOM would release this as an official patch? Anyway, so I always wanted to make a RE4 walkthrough on my channel and I was just waiting on this release to do it, so thanks again to Chris & Albert I finally did it.

    Link to the video: https://youtu.be/emhDMUoHn20

I will be releasing a new episode every Tuesday and Thursday!

  106. Mike says:

Thank you very much Albert and Cris for this gorgeous work, may God bless you both!

Now here some issues I found:

The game crash when I examine the Rifre-SemiAuto Scope and it will also crash if I try to examine the Rifle-SemiAuto with Scope equipped.

Ada Report crashed one time after I played The Mercenaries, I looked all reports from #1 until #5 skipping and then I retuned to main menu and it crashed, I couldn’t trigger this crash yet it only happened one single time.

I would like to request an option to remove the film grain and the motion blur as well. 🙂

I also want to request how to unpack the 0700000.pack and repack it correctly, I want to add a HUD mod but it makes the game crash like Assigment Ada.

  107. Chandrian says:

I tried playing this last night and the work you have done is amazing. I know you guys are perfectionists, so I’ll ask you a couple of questions.
    – Could you update the “Progress Summary” page so we know exactly what’s still missing to be reworked?
    – The Spanish subtitles (the official ones, I guess?) have a lot of grammar errors, could you contact me so I can proofread them so you guys can include them in one of the next releases?
    – When the local police car is arriving at the villa at the start of the game, there’s a view of the car from above and its wheels clip noticeably through the ground. Is there a way for you to fix this by editing the ground to make it lower or placing the car a bit higher in that frame?
    – When two breakable objects are destroyed at the same time (with a knife swing when they’re close, for example where the first saving machine is there are two boxes on the shelf with 1,000 PTAS each this is possible to do) there’s a weird sound reverberation effect that doesn’t sound right. Do you think you could fix this?
    – In the Bio4 E3 2003 demo, Leon’s jacket and hair are of insanely good quality, with jiggling physics even. When you’re done, will it look like that? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAK8EkCmLf0

Thank you very much for the work you guys are doing, if I find more bugs or issues I’ll post them here under the same nick.

    • albert says:

Hello and thanks for your message!
      – We’ll need to crete and rework some tables for the Progress page so everything is clear enogh. I don’t know when I’ll have the time to do it by I’ll keep in mind 😉
      – Yes, you are right. I also noticed some of those mistakes. It would be a great help if you have a detailed list about those typos/grammar errors!
      – Could you send us a screenshot of the precise moment the wheels clip? Maybe it’s not an issue because the wheels can cave into the ground if the ground is not hard enough
      – Box sound: I’d say that’s normal because the same exact breaking sound is playing at almost the same time.
      – We’ll certainly make as beatiful jacket textures as we can. We also can edit the specular values if needed. But I don’t think we can edit the physics… but who knows!

Let us know if you find anything else 😉

      • Chandrian says:

        – The car clips pretty noticeable here: https://i.imgur.com/4wsU5Lu.png and when parked too although way less: https://i.imgur.com/AODNMBO.png
        – In just 15 minutes of normal playtime I’ve seen quite a few errors, too many to name them one by one, I could proofread the file if I knew where to look for it or how to extract it. Here’s one example of a terrible sentence: https://i.imgur.com/nwgkFfj.png should be “Joder… ¿Quiénes son esos tíos?” (it’s missing an opening question mark, two accents and the plural ‘quienes’). Then I’ve seen a “se” instead of “sea”, “Presidente” instead of “presidente” (civil service position, army ranks, etc. are not written with capital letters in Spanish) and so on.
        – There has to be a way to get your hands on the original E3 demo or even a Bio4 dev kit, although they’re usually pretty expensive and rare. This would maybe let you get those jacket and hair physics 😀
        – As a side question, can the stance of the NPCs be modified? This guy’s hands aren’t even on the wheel: https://i.imgur.com/FHulSer.png
        – I know that the version you’re working on, that is the one we’re playing has no audio options. Would it be possible to add at least a volume slider or the menus cannot be edited at all except for the backgrounds and fonts?

        Thank you for answering 🙂

        • albert says:

Thank you for the images! I’ll store in my “Cosas para arreglar” folder 😛

I’m not sure the position of the policeman can be edited… but it’s like are the wrists are over the whell, not the hands. It’s not completelly unrealistic hehe

About adding new options, that’s not possible… we are entering the coding area. There are a loooooot of things that rely on the exe file.

And finaly, every cutscene has his own MDT file, which contains all language subtitles. Right now we can’t unpack and repack them because the tools available out there are not ready to unpack the 2 new chinese languages included inside these MDT files.

Argh!! Everything is NO NO NO this time… I’m sorry XD
I’ll let you know if I find out a way of unpack and repack flawlessly the text files. Thanks a lot for your inclination to help us!! 🙂

  108. Tom says:

I’m really intrigued to see who you guys would do characters, specifically the mutated ones like krauser
Been following your work for a while and am very impressed so far =)

  109. It took me a while to notice, but Don Jose has been reworked already, right?
That, plus the Maria corpse nailed to a cabin wall with a pitchfork early on, make it two ganados less to go! Also, seeing how well these two were crafted makes me real hyped and hopeful towards your work on the rest of the characters!
This is the kind of respectful restoration and recreation work that I love! In the PS4 version, they made a horrendous work in the ganados clothing, adding this terrible sackcloth texture wich inmediately stuck out like a sore thumb. However, with your mod, you managed to raise the quality of the assets beyond belief, while still making it look the same art-wise as the original. Thus, the enhancements make this version the best one, but they are done in such a way that, while the rise in quality is inmediately noticeable, it doesn’t stick out. It’s like playing the idealized version of Resident Evil 4 that lives in our nostalgia ladden memories!
(Por cierto, si en el pueblo tenemos a Don José, ¿Dónde está Don Pepito? ¿A su casa ya se fué?)

    • albert says:

Yes, some of the ganados textures are from the very firts deme we released years ago. So, they will be probably redone/touced-up anyway

  110. Mustofa Akmal says:

I’m new to this remaster, This remaster doesnt work in PC, is it because my version of Re4 is Resident Evil 4 Ultimate HD Version?

    • albert says:

No, our project is specificaly for the Ultimate HD version for PC.
Could you specify what’s your problem during the isntallation process?

  111. Tian says:

how can i take the original color filter back?i prefer the original 2 color filter

    • albert says:

A copy of the original color filters are inside …\Resident Evil 4\BIO4\gradients\ORIGINAL-BACKUP\ folder
You’ll find the gradient 2 file there. Copy and paste it inside …\Resident Evil 4\BIO4\gradients\ folder

  112. […] you can see in this announcement post on the mod’s website, the new version that has been released isn’t technically the “final” […]

  113. Tiago says:

The more I play, the more I love this mod.
Just made a Paypal donation at least to pay you guys a beer 🙂

  114. Lucas says:

Need help! When I give a double click on install-script.bat shows “access denied”. What I have to do?

  115. WAHID-87 says:

    Hello. how are you
    Wonderful work ……….. Thank you
Do you need this mod to Village Relais and Castle Relais
Or this mod alone only to install it …………… Thanks again

  116. Raza Abbas says:

Will.the final version of this mod allow the game to be played at frame rates higher than 60?

    • albert says:

We are editing textures, models, lights and effects. Other things unrelated to that will depend on every person’s PC specifications and performance.
      Thanks for asking!

  117. Leonardo Brião de Oliveira says:

Hello! I have a problem with the installation. I made the whole process informed, but when I run the game through Steam, an error occurs: the game run during some seconds and after close the game window. Cris and Alfred, can you help me with this?

    Att,

    Leonardo – Brazil

  118. Rodrigo says:

Albert and Cris, I’ve never comented much here, but I’ve always followed this project for many years, from the beginning… I always came here every day to see if there were new photos and updates… always looking the photos and comparing the differences… now I have this masterpiece in my home, in my PC and I can appreciate every detail with my joystick in my hands and see whith my own eyes, I do not have words to thank them. I am already at the end of the castle and the only bug I encountered was the absence of flash of light in Leon’s lantern in certain parts and the water of the waterfall at night flickering, but that is no import. THANK YOU for all these years of hard and brilliant work! (sorry my english) THANK YOU!!! ^_^

    • albert says:

No worries! My English isn’t perfect either 🙂
Thank you too, for folowing us during all this time!
Yep, we are aware of the water random flicker bug. Can someone confirm if this also happened in the vanilla version in the water room of the castle??

      • Suckable_lemon says:

I’ve played RE4 an absurd number of times and I never noticed any water flicker, from the gamecube version to the HD ultimate PC version. The first time I noticed it was after I installed your castle pack, in the water room. I was playing at 60 fps.

  120. Jim says:

How jarring are the ada story cutscene going to be?

  121. HHRSN18 says:

Hello, sorry for the inconvenience, but I have some good news: I fixed my RE2 Ada Wong crash by removing the last PS button mod from DarkSamus, which was supposed to work alongside with your project. Anyway, I completed the game today and was blow away by all the new textures. Thank you all so much for everything and I’m looking forward the next updates. By the way, did you make the motion blur subtler? I really enjoyed it!

    • Martin Sp. says:

I had the same crash, but was able to fix it and use the PS button mod at the same time.

Did you unpack “07000000.pack” and repacked it, after adding the files from the Button pack? If so, then you may have the same problem as I had, that YZ2Tool unpacks two TGA files as BINs, which after repacking will cause the crash. It’s a common issue, as I have read. Converting the BINs to uncompressed TGAs was the solution for my game.

      • HHRSN18 says:

I’m confused. Look, if it’s not asking too much, can you please tell me step by step what to do?

        • Martin Sp. says:

I will try to, bit I have to admit that this is a bit difficult.

I assume, that you simply uninstalled DarkSamus Mod, to solve the crash. At first I did that, too. The downside is, that the PS3 Button Mod can’t be used.
But if you unpack all of the files from the button mod and the corresponding files from Albert’s and Cris’ project, you can overwrite their files with the textures for the PS3 buttons. You have to look for these in the folders. In total only two to tree textures must be copied over. It depends on the version you are using, I am using Playstation button mod V2.
Unpacking and repacking can be done using a tool called YZ2Tool, but this tool unpacks compressed TGAs as BIN files. In case of Adas RE2 costume these BINs are two bump maps, exactly 0418.tga and 0420.tga, to be found in the 07000000 folder. If you open these BINs for example with Paint.net, than you can save them as uncompressed TGAs and replace the compressed ones from Albert and Cris.
After repacking all folders, you should be able to play with all new textures and the button mod.

Hope I could help you and my germanised english was somehow understandable. 😉

  122. Cris says:

No, I’m sorry. Please use a genuine copy of the game.

  123. TacoDeBoss says:

But yes, you should absolutely buy this amazing game 🙂

  124. Carlos E says:

I can’t install it, access denied error

    • Cris says:

Please see the troubleshooting page. Thank you!

      • Jim says:

Please answer my question how are the ada cutscenes story going to be

        • Martin Sp. says:

          @Jim
I don’t exactly understand what exactly your question is, but if it concerns a request for better quality cutscenes, than you should read Cris’ answer to my post (July 15, 2018 at 3:07 pm).

          • Jim says:

Yes it does it’s about the quality of the ada cutscenes for ada separate ways

          • Martin Sp. says:

Sadly, the cutscenes for Seperate Ways can not be improved due to technical restrictions.

          • Jim says:

I mean recreated using the main game cutscene engine

          • albert says:

That’s impossible. The game engine doesn’t render videos higher than 512×336 pixels. Any video we re-create will look blurry anyway.
And even if render HD videos, the data to render the Separate Ways cutscenes in realtime isn’t anywhere.
And even if that data existed, the game won’t load any file that isn’t already in the original files compilation.
            There is a lot of impediments… 🙁
There’s only a way of re-creating those cutscenes: Talented animators with tones of free time, and talented coders that find out the way of getting rid of that ridiculous 512×336 pixels limitation.

          • jim says:

this is there anyone willing to consider doing that I hate that that’s the only part of the game unable to be updated 🙁

  125. Leon says:

First and foremost, thank you! this now really is the ultimate version of the game, cant wait for final release :D. Sorry if this has already been addressed in the past, but i was wondering if it was a possibility to restore some of the effects that are missing (like the depth of field seen in some cutscenes, scopes, etc), as well as removing that motion blur effect some areas seem to have by default (like the first chainsaw encounter on the village). Also, there’s a very particular look to the fire in the GC/Wii versions that is missing (warmer orange tone).
It’s not that important at all considering how much you fixed/reworked/improved, but i would like to know if it’s something you guys have in consideration or if it’s even possible at all.
Thank you again for everything you guys achieved in this mod 😀

    • albert says:

      Hello!
      Thank you for your message.
As for the depth of field and the intense fire effect in the gamecube/wii versions. Right now it’s impossible to bring them back, these effects are completely messed up/broken.
I made up for the loss of the intense fire effect with some additional effects than make the fire to loock more visualy appealing.

The upcoming “mini patch” will offer the option of removing that motion blur 🙂

      • Leon says:

Thank you for answering! thats a shame, but at least that annoying motion blur is going away 😀 Also wanted to report that my game started to crash consistently after 15 minutes of play give or take (mostly happens when i reach “Del Lago”).
I did a fresh install, have no mods at all, and applied the 4GB patch 🙁

  126. Frank Nitty says:

The game is cheap on Steam anyway if you catch a sale

  127. JagBone says:

I cant install the file. The batch file keep closing before I could do anything.

    • albert says:

      Hello!
Did you take a look at the trobleshooting page?

      • JagBone says:

Yes, I did. The page didn’t state any solution for this issue. I have followed the instruction installation closely. But the batch file always closes when I double-clicked it. I did not open it with Admin, just normal double click. It will then closes after a second. It repeats this despite multiple tries. 🙁

  128. Martin Sp. says:

    @JagBone
This is an older Installation Instruction back from the Castle release. Maybe it is helpful.

    1. Press the Windows key and type “cmd”
    2. One of the search results will be “Command Prompt” — right-click on it and select “Run as administrator”
    3. The Command Prompt window will open and will default to some directory – you will need to navigate to the folder that has the .bat file in it
    4. If the drive that your game is installed on is the C: drive:
    1. Use the “cd..” command to move up the directory tree until you’re simply at the C: drive
    2. Once there, type: cd c:\program files\steam\steamapps\common\resident evil 4\ (or whatever the path is to the folder with the .bat file)
    5. If the game is not installed on your C: drive:
    1. Use the “cd..” command to move up the directory tree until you’re simply at the C: drive
    2. Once there, type the letter of the drive that the game is installed on (for example: D:) — The command prompt should now show the new drive letter instead of C:\
    3. Type: cd d:\program files\steam\steamapps\common\resident evil 4\ (or whatever the path is to the folder with the .bat file)
    6. Once you are in the folder with the .bat file, type the name of the batch file to run it: (for example, “install-script.bat“)
    7. The installer should now copy the files for you
    8. Start the game and ensure that HD Textures are selected in the Video options for the game

  129. Caique says:

I have to download just the last release or all of them?

  130. Kindred says:

I just noticed this today, I haven’t noticed it before, every time I move theres wierd flickering blur line that goes up and down the screen every time I move even slightly, it just flickers going up and down, Im not exactly sure how to describe it, its not motion blur though

  131. Ryan says:

I’ve been anticipating this release for a while now and the only thing keeping me from fully enjoying it is a weird glitch/bug where the game won’t boot unless I have 2 MONITORS CONNECTED AT ONCE! It’s so weird and I won’t go into it here so I’ll just link a Steam discussion I started instead: https://steamcommunity.com/app/254700/discussions/0/1711816076702824163/

If anyone has seen this before please let me know. Thanks! 🙂

I think you made some BIG mistake.
    You need to fix this.
It’s a bug in this room i didn’t activate any trainer

    • DoUKnowDaWae says:

You put 2 enemies in this room

    • albert says:

It’s not a mistake 🙂 These 2 enemies were there in the original Gamecube version. There’s a hole in the floor, the Novistadors came from the sewers through this hole.

    • mofail says:

I thought this was a mistake too, was a big surprise when they showed up I got my ass kicked. They weren’t there in the ubisoft game

      • DoUKnowDaWae says:

Lololol. First time I enter that room (I enter after Salazar cutscene) I hear sound I was like that must be bug and Idc. But when I enter that room to get some items I was like WTF!? I beat them with 2 FRICKIN SPRAY.

  133. Kisamee says:

Are you working on characters now ?

  134. Phellipe Ferreira says:

When loading the door that has the phase that Leon first encounters Ada at the beginning of the game where it appears in the window my game closes ..

  135. JagBone says:

Alright! Got it working! Thanks! And thanks Albert and Cris for your hardwork. Can’t wait to see how you guys will improve the models! xD

  136. DoUKnowDaWae says:

I hate to disturb you work but did you notice Leon’s hair when he’s wearing tactical vest. No physics. Do you know how to fix this?
    Thanks.

    • albert says:

Yep, that’s a programming issue. If I swap Leon’s normal model with the tactical vest model, His normal model hair won’t move at all and the tactical vest version will.
All the animation data is in there but there is a wrong instruction in the exe file that won’t allow tactical vest Leon hair to move. There’s nothing we can do I think… 🙁

Are the separate ways cutscenes already in HD?

    • albert says:

No, unfortunatelly that’s technically impossible to achieve right now. Only Capcom staff could re-create them at HD.

Thank you so much for all your hard work on your project, I’ve been following for a few years now and it’s amazing that you’re almost done. I really love this game and playing through with this texture pack has been an amazing experience. It’s really brought the game back to life for me and I’ve found myself stopping so many times to admire the attention to detail. Thank you <3

    Here’s My System Requirements
    Intel Core i3-3240 3.40Ghz
    8GB RAM DDR3
Nvidia Geforce GTX 750 Ti Asus OC 2GB Edition
    Windows 10 (64-Bit) Latest

      Hello and thank you!!
I’d say that should be enough. The only difference with the vanilla version of the game is you need more VRAM, but we’ll do decent tests when the project is completely finalized. You maybe notice some longer load times (not that noticeable) and maybe a few frame drops in a very few areas of the game. Or maybe you won’t notice not even that.
We want to optimize the rooms people is experiencing more framedrops to make the best experience for the biggest ammount of people as possible.

Keep in mind the available release only contains whats been done until July, 2018. Characters, enemies and some menus are not included yet.

wow posting in this 2018 topic was really frightening! I thought they released the game without telling us!

Why did you post in this 2018 topic if you need help? You didnt even explain what you are stuck on? Is it an error? Or are you just having a difficult time beating the game?

This really isnt the best place for you to post if you need help with the game
