Merry Christmas! Brief update and a… video…

Hello everyone! It’s been a while since the last update! I’ve been working since then on some characters, enemies, their accesories and weapons, files background images, etc…

Also, I’ve managed to add, at will, a type of shadow effect that is used only in a few areas of the game. (Don’t panic! The addition of these kind of shadows is a piece of cake — it won’t delay the project progress at all and it’s just needed in certain areas). This is a small sample of what can we do now:

This post is just a brief update.

I’m planning to post the first of a regular series of videos covering the entine “final” version for every chapter. January 1st will be the date for Chapter 1-1. What you’ll see in the video can be considered “final” in every way. I think this will be really fun because I’ll play the game in Professional Mode as a regular player (but paying attention to the details, of course).

As a side note: Some people have asked why the character improvements are not included in the download pack. The reason is that these improvements were made after the release date of that pack. This leads to another recurring question we’ve received. We are not releasing individual packs of the characters because of file and folder structure reasons. Some of the updated files would clash with some mods people are using, and it would generate a lot of issues and questions. Also, the time needed to prepare a release pack is quite long (lots of tests are needed to make sure there won’t be problems when people install the packs).

So, all the updates you’ve seen on our website since July 13, 2018 will be released in the final pack. Thank you for your understanding and infinite patience, and… Mendez wishes you MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

    I just wish there was a way to add real shadows into the game. I wonder why the devs went with baked shadows, they could have at least included it with future releases. Anyway awesome job in including tiny details like this one. Can’t wait for the full release!

      Because the environments are kept low poly, and without backside (culling), you need double sided shadowing, which is an performance killer. Besides, the game looks really good as is.

        Its title is in the youtube video description. I really didn’t know that song before making this video haha, but it fits perfectly the moment Mendez arrives XD

    las sombras son una pasada! por cierto hablando lo de pasartelo de nuevo mostrando los detalles, hay un canal en youtube que hizo eso con una de tus ultimas versiones del proyecto, y es genial! podrias hablar con él. Hace una comparacion a camara lenta a pantalla partida entre tu proyecto y el juego original haciendo coincidir exactamente los lugares por los que va pasando. Yo lo sigo solo por eso. No se si se puede dejar por aqui, espero que no se considere spam ya que no tengo nada que ver con él, tan solo creo que podrian interesarte las comparaciones puesto que estan muy bien. El nombre del canal es Pokemonfan4ever

      Gracias! La verdad es que es la guinda del pastel poder añadir esas sombras en ciertos lugares 🙂

      Aun no sé qué formato tendrán mis videos en cuanto a si habrá comparativa o no, o solo en lugares puntuales para mostrar “cambios interesantes”.

    I don’t know if you already have but it would be nice if you added fog; not as intense as silent hill fog LoL but it would heighten the atmosphere of the game. Keep up the good work, ill wait to download when the final release is done.

      The idea is to keep the original atmosphere, because any changes of this kind would be a matter of taste… and I’m sure there would be a lot of complains haha
