Since it’s been almost a month since the last video, I wanted to post something even if it’s just in the form of a few images.
I’ve been remastering Assignment Ada mini game the last weeks. And it’s already complete!
And now I’m finishing The Mercenaries mode (only Super Salvador and the character’s renders and result screen images remain to be done).
Now all characters use their Hi-poly models. Krauser’s head is the only model that hasn’t been upgraded because the game can’t handle his hi-poly head and his ingame facial animations at the same time. Fortunately, the differences are really not that noticeable. The shape is identical, but it has a few less polygons and the face scar has no volume, but there’s no way you can notice it while playing.
Wesker’s head was drastically downgraded. It’s the most noticeable of all 5 characters:
Also, for some reason Weser textures on the old PC port (and PS2) had better textures than in any other version of this game! The fabric pattern was clearly visible in that port and I re-created his clothes based on that higher-resolution textures:
The renders re-creations are really time-consuming, but the results worth the invested time! :
So, next thing I’ll post will the Assignment Ada entire mini-game.
And a few days later I’ll post the forgotten entire Chapter 5 comparison gallery (the same way I did with the previous 4 Chapters).

These photos look AWESOME Albert! I can’t wait to see what’s next. How is the progress on Seperate Ways looking? 😀 I’m curious on how a “certain” character is going to look since his model has alot less polygons and details compared to the cutscene variation XD

There is no final or approximate release date so Albert has no pressure to get it done at a specific time. Updates usually appear monthly. Packs take a lot of time to release.
Primero que nada se ven espectalures, se nota el downgrade en los poligonos en Wesker, pero las texturas de ste no me terminan de convencer del todo en especial en la parte de los pantalones.
El poster de Leon esta espectacular no puedo esperar a ver los demas.
No se si es cosa mia o simplemente es la calidad de la textura pero ¿Le pusiste spectacualr maps a las medias de ADA? ya que se ven bastante bien :Q
Finalmente no se si se pueda hacer algo a los ojos de HUNK para que se vean mejor que realmente parezca cristal o quizas solo necesite más imagenes en diferentes angulos XD

Lo de wesker está basado en las texturas de PS2 / PC de 2007, que increÃblemente tienen el doble de resolución que las de Gamecube y todos los demás ports! y la ropa tiene este patrón rayado
En cambio al retocar las texturas para el modo HD de calidad de texturas (y PS4) lo único que hicieron fue añadir un poco de efecto de tejido genérico a la textura de menor resolución, lo que destruyó por completo el patrón rayado de la textura original…
No, no tienen specular maps las piernas de Ada XD. He de decir que me ha costado muchÃsimo remapearlas para que no se notara ni rastro de distorsión de la textura…

Los ojos de Hunk brillan al moverse, quizá en movimiento mejore. Cuando lo veas ya me lo dirás ;P
Oh vale entiendo y ya viendo la comparativa es raro que en PS2 usaran una textura de mejor calidad, los milagos existesn (?)
Si entiendo muy buen trabajo y hablando de ellos es posible que le puedas poner entonces spectacular maps en sus medias para darle ese brillo realista que normalmente se ven en las medias de ese tipo?
PD: la nueva imagen dle menu de selección de personajes tambien esta espectacular, excelente trabajo Albert

Small question about Wesker. From what I can grasp, Leon’s Mafia outfit actually seems to be built off of, and modified from a lower poly version of Wesker’s outfit (which I imagine would be the in-game Mercenaries model for the original PS2 version). By any chance has it inherited some of the improvements that Wesker recieved here?

The shotgun shells in leons preview still show the word “Hybred” could you fix that?
Oh I have to re-re-redo those images. As you can see they use the low-res textures for the weapons 😉
Excelente trabajo!. Wesker se ve fenomenal, lo único que quiero señalar es que las lÃneas del traje están desproporcionadas, es decir, se ven más separadas y grandes en los brazos y en la piernas que en el torso. Espero se pueda solucionar, sobre todo en lo brazos donde se nota más.
Más allá de eso no tengo ninguna queja. Esperemos que pronto te devuelvan la cuenta de twitter!

Sà que se nota un poco diferente. En algunos puntos es por la distorsión del tejido al arrugarse la ropa. Tengo que ver si se puede arreglar, porque a veces lo que se ve mal cuando tiene los brazos doblados, se ve bien cuando los estira para apuntar, y viceversa.

Everything looks perfect here! Amazing job seeing this project getting closer and closer to finish!
If I have to nitpick and suggest something, I think you need to tweak Leon’s pose and facial expression on his Mercenaries Character Selection screen (the screen which shows him holding the Blacktail, and the Mercenaries loadout is visible)
In the original, he is smirking a little while looking at the camera, while in your version he looks a little “flat” facial-expression wise.

I’d say they edited his face. It’s obvious when you see that white eye. The edits are obvious. And his face is too soft, too

Ahh in close up he doesn’t look smirking but in the second picture (the full body shot) I see him smirking just a little bit, don’t know why hahaha xD
I think you’re right about the face, it looks like they made him go through the stupid blur filter from UHD

Regarding the pose I think you should make his head “straighter” a little bit (I mean vertically)
In your pose his head seems leaning a little bit towards the right. You may need to adjust it to the left juuuuust a little bit so it matches the original.
And I think you need to adjust the eyeball a little bit so it seems he’s looking at the camera

Yes, I don’t know what they did to his face, but now I can see the smirk when I look at it at a certain distance. I think it’s because of how the lighting reach his face and the mouth details
I’ll take a look at the pose! After hours of adjusting the models to match them with the original it is hard to see the fine detail. Other people’s fresh eyes are always a help!
Yeah I feel you about seeing the fine details, happens to me a lot of times as well XD

Amazing work as usual.
There is now a mod to drop a couple of files in a folder to play the Ashley section with the camera angles. Would this be something you could perhaps toggle in a future version for people who want it? Feels very much the missing final piece.

The download link is in the description. I tested it the other night on stream and it works with your HDP 🙂 The only slight issue was that the items in the short Ashley section were white, and textureless until you picked them up.

The items issue is caused by this mod replacing r20d and r20e.udas files (the 2 Ashley rooms data) and by replacing them it “destroys” all the room edits but the textures.
I’m seeing what they changed, and it will be a piece of cake to include a mini patch that allow people to play the classic camera angles in Ashley section of the game 😀

Haha yes. That’s the original render. I still have to re-create that image. Only Leon is redone in that iscreenshot.
I always thought Ada’s eyes look weird in that image, too.

Everything looks great, as always. One thing you may wish to consider: Albert Wesker’s shoes look abnormally pale, maybe make them darker, so they don’t look lighter than the rest of his black outfit. I understand they are supposed to look like shiny black shoes, but the color is to bright, overall.

Yeah, I also noticed the lower part looks brighter than the instep area of the shoes. It’s just a texture issue ;D

This issue is related to the physics of Wesker’s clothes. I’m not sure if I can fix this, but I’ll see what can I do…
