Walkthrough | Assignment Ada Fully Remastered

CLICK ON THE IMAGES TO ENLARGE

Hello! Here comes the first no-main-campaign video. It covers the entire Assignment Ada mission.

These are the differences you’ll see in this video compared to the pack we released on 2018:

  • Adjusted, improved and new lighting and effects.
  • Re-created and restored some textures.
  • A lot of small stage model edits.
  • New and improved stage shadows where needed.
  • Remastered enemies, characters and exclusive cutscenes textures and some slight 3D edits.

I included some minutes of behind the scenes Photoshop analysis at the end of the video. I’m showing the work some Mercenaries Result Screens entail. But this is just the Photoshop work, there is also the 3D work that is needed to obtain the character renders:

Oh! And look what I’ve found:

I hope you like the video and don’t hesitate to share your comments about it!

And now let’s back to work! I hope I can share with you some good news about that DLL file soon ;D

The subtitles in the video are not properly synchronized.
Can’t wait to hear about the dll!

  2. Chris says:

I don’t care if the remake ends up not like the original because we have the true remaster right here.

Albert I just saw the youtube video! This looks amazing. I love the behind the scenes stuff too. I love seeing the process on how you make everything. I can’t wait to see Seperate Ways next! Any chance for a sneak peek of my favorite villian if its not too much to ask? XD

Did you figure out what will be done regarding those cutscenes by the way? Will you be using the AI rendered version or the original?

  4. Frank Nitty says:

Awesome work yet again… Just Mercenaries and Separate Ways left to go. Thanks

  5. Spyware says:

It looks awesomely great! And yes, I am not sure about the GameCube version but I remember that in PlayStation 2 version of Asignment Ada, she was not able to use the knife too, so it’s great to see this missing feature being added to this masterpiece of a game! I also have a little complain, Ada’s model (in all her costumes) looks really great, you guys did a great job remastering her, I just think her butt should look more round and bigger, if that’s the correct word. She’s now looking really flat and kinda weird, not really a female’s body shape. Also, her Asignment Ada costume in the original version has a little hint of abs on her belly, which is not present on the current remastered model. I also wanted to ask about the easter eggs, are they being remastered too? Like the recently found easter egg where there is a guy standing in the distance and looks like hes made out of cardboard. And what about the bugs, are they being removed? Old schoolers like me might remember to bug Leon trough the map at night in Village to pick up Ada’s shotgun, or the significant amount of gold being hidden in one of the walls later in the game, etc. Anyways, you’re doing a great job! Sending love from Czech Republic! Keep up the good work

    • albert says:

      Thanks!
I didn’t change the knife behavior. I simply didn’t use it because I had a lot of ammo XD

Abut Ada’s butt… well that’s the way it is haha. There’s no need the characters have a standardized beauty measures. Look Ashley ears. They are big, but we won’t change them because TV girls have perfect ears

About the abs, they are still visible, but it’s really subtle, so I’ve increased a little more the contrast to match more the original.

Bugs, the shotgun is not there anymore because I wanted to optimize a few things. But maybe I’ll restore it because I know some people enjoy doing this kind of outbound stuff

Easter eggs: I guess I’ll place that guy there again, or somewhere else… ;P

  6. Max Storm says:

So Albert, what’s next? Are we going through the entire “separate ways” again or are you focusing on mercenaries instead?

    • albert says:

I guess I’ll finish the Mercenaries first, or maybe I’ll alternate it with some Separate Ways stuff… I’ll decide it on the fly ;D

  7. Jeff R. says:

    Looks amazing! Great work!

  8. K says:

    Good job lad

  9. Pedro says:

  10. EPD Gaffney says:

    Fantastic work as always.

  11. Nick Swenson says:

I am so ready for the final release! Thank you for all your work thus far. Gracias!

  12. CiTRiC says:

      • CiTRiC says:

Wow, eres increíble, no sé cómo los has podido localizar.

(I saw this post was just made. Delete the other comment I made on your other post please, thank you and sorry.)

A suggestion: One thing in regards to your remastered/redone version of Leon’s Mercenaries ending screen is that I feel it’s not close to the original version *as is*. What I feel should be done is to:

    1. Desaturate the picture a little more
    2. Add a stronger blue-green tint filter,
    3. Add a bit more vignette around the edges?

That’s just my two cents, though.

    • Anonymous says:

Another thing: I think the Capcom adverts you added in Leon’s ending screen aren’t really that great? I mean, Crimson Tears was more of a collaboration between Capcom, Spike and DreamFactory and not really a *true* in-house Capcom production, and Tatsunoko vs Capcom is, like, not just a semi-licensed game but also came out *4 years* after RE4’s release (since you specifically stated you were going for 2004 Capcom releases). I’m fine with the Rockman EXE/Megaman Battle Network advert, though I think it should either be 3 or 4 when it comes to release dates – though I can’t tell what game you used.

I’m thinking maybe use other 2004 games from Capcom instead for the adverts, such as Viewtiful Joe 2, Under The Skin, Megaman X8, Megaman Zero 3, Monster Hunter 1 and/or Onimusha 3: Demon Siege as any of the three adverts instead? Hell, if you want you could probably just make those three ads Viewtiful Joe 1, P.N.03 and Killer7 (even though the latter was *also* a collaboration game), since those three games *and* RE4 were meant to be part of the failed Capcom Five initiative for Nintendo’s Gamecube. Again, just my two cents.

        Thanks again!
I was sure someone would give me some better ideas at some point. Your selection is perfect and makes complete sense!

    • albert says:

      Thanks for the suggestions!
I’ve slightly edited it and I’d say it now looks better ;D

  15. Mariano says:

  16. maverick says:

Hey Albert, I hope you’re doing fine during these trying times. Awesome work with this new chapter, as always. I was wondering if you’d mind clarifying a little thing for me: how complicated is it to alter the text files in this game? You see, I’m a translator and this game wasn’t officially translated to Brazilian Portuguese (I’ve seen a couple fan translations, but both have problems and, if at all possible, it would be nice to make it compatible with this HD remaster, as I do think it’ll become the ultimate way to play this game. Are the text files in any way altered buy you’re patch? Anyway, keep up the good work and stay safe 🙂

  17. Gabe says:

This looks awesome albert! I actually had one question from a recent playthrough. On Chapter 3-3, when you go into the side room just before the room that drops down the steel cage with the chest with the hourglass, there are 2 Novistadors in there, where in the original there isnt any enemies in this room. Is this an intentional choice or a possible mistake? Just curious to know. I havent heard mention of it before and personally I think its a nice touch if its intentional.

    • Alexander says:

Back on the PS2 I’ve had a Novistador spawn in that room, never two though

      • Gabe says:

Odd. The PS2 version is the on version I haven’t played lol, every other version I’ve played, from Gamecube to Wii to every Xbox version, there’s never an enemy in there. Either way, still feel its a nice touch.

        • EPD Gaffney says:

I think that’s dependent on game events. I have not played in a long time (waiting patiently for this project to be done in fact), but if memory serves me you will be ambushed on the way back that way with Ashley as that would most likely mean you were on your way to grab the Broken Butterfly. I did think it was two Novistadors rather than one but I am certainly not confident about that part.

    • Soul says:

If my memory serves me correctly, that part has a hole in the floor. Novistadores usually leave environments like this during the game. Congratulations on your excellent work, boys from HD Project! 🙂

  18. Max Storm says:

Hey Albert, are you going to have to do all the walkthrough of separate ways again or not?

  19. Alexander says:

Great work! Could you share the hd result screens when you are finished? (without the actual results) I’ve been looking for the Ada one for a long time to use as a wallpaper

  22. Adam Greaves says:

This is so exciting!!! I can’t believe it’s been 7 years, it must feel so surreal to be this close to the finish line. I finally donated, as this is no mere “HD Remaster” but a proper restoration of a piece of art worthy of the gallery. Congratulations Albert, as well as everyone who made this possible!

    • albert says:

Thank you for the support! :DDD
We are finally at the final year (if everything goes as I expect). It’s been a long long journey…

  23. NomadJack says:

Wow, we are so close to completion!

I backed this project all the way back in 2014, it’s amazing to see how far everything has come, I’m so excited for the release! <3

  24. LoneGamer88 says:

  26. LeonRPD says:

I made renders of the background people to make it closer to the original Mercenaries Leon result image that I would like to share with you. I already tried your email from your YouTube, but it did not work because it said that your inbox is full. Where can I DM you?
